Rock Sliders on a non 4x4

What do yall think about rock sliders on a prerunner? I would only get them for the look. I don't take my truck off road.

 

Its alot of money for just looks but if you do wheel it one day atleast you'll be covered

 

Rock sliders are for rocks.. not for muds. If you're worried about the mess, just get a set of side steps.

 

Nothing wrong with it...... If you like 'em and can afford it, why not?

I had a set of square tube sliders (flat surface at the top) that I used to step on when washing the truck.

Rock sliders aren't for mud..... they're for rocks.

Rock sliders are heavy, mine weigh almost 80 lbs together. I wouldn't add them to the truck unless you need them, or have some made that are much lighter.

 

they can be a nice door ding protector for Wal-Mart parking lots.... Anyone that would have hit your truck, will now have a NICE ding/dent from your "rock slider" protection.

 

OHHH I never thought of this. I might just have to do this just for that.

No don't get them.

My general principle is "If I'm not going to use them appropriately (or really at all in your case), then dont get them.
You dont want a mall crawler. They are stupid.

Get running boards/nerf bars instead.
They will be cheaper/lighter/serve you better.

 

hey why not they can protect from alot of door dings too! i've only came close to setting mine on rocks a few times so i'd most likely get them for that reason and looks awesome

 

Nope, he didn't. But just because he didn't say it, doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate others bringing up valid points for him. Most Rock sliders are thin enough tubing not to protect against items thrown up by the tires. Running boards have a much wider surface and thus protect against those foreign objects.

 

the only reason I want them is to help with black out process. I don't know what to do with the chrome nerf bars that are on it now.

 

if you like it do it, it's your truck. If you sit back and say, wow that looks nice then money well spent. If you don't eat for a week because of sliders, then probably not a good idea. If i had the money I would have them, and I see no rocks in Florida, but the one time I was stuck here, I got pulled out by a big chevy and messed my rocker a bit, if I had sliders I would have been fine.
