I've used the search feature but can't find my answer so here's some questions for anyone who can help...

I am looking to purchase new wheels for my '07 Sport. I'm running 265/70/17 tires on my stock wheels (see spec below) with minimal rubbing. I want to run the same size tires on new wheels. Is it possible to get a slightly wider stance on my truck without any significant modifications? Can I put on an 8" wide wheel? If so, what would the correct backspacing/offset be?
    • Current Wheel Size: 17x7.5
    • Backspacing: 5.5
    • Offset: 30mm

You're going to want a 17x8 or 17x9 rim with a 0 offset for the tire to be basically flush with the fender like I have, and up to -12 offset to stick out a little. I went with the 0, and couldn't be happier.

Thanks. If I go with 0 offset does that decrease backspacing? What would it be?

Yup, agree with Dan. Negative offset will push your wheels out. Shoot for around 4.5 for backspacing...should you ever decide to bump up to 285s you will want the 4.5 BS. Shouldn't have any problem finding wheels with those specs.

Backspacing is dependent on rim width and offset. Knowing our trucks, it is not something that you really need to worry about. X8 or x9 will be good to go with anything from +24 to -12. Our stock TRD rims are like +32 with a x7.5 rim. Wider rim with same backspace lowers the offset.

Thanks gents. I appreciate you taking a moment to reply with real answers. I can't stand being re-routed to past threads where I have to search through 100 confusing responses.

    Cheers!
