    Yeah, don't be all rediculous.

So send it back and do something else. These guys can't be the only front hitch makers. And you're done! It's elementary.

I surfed toyota.com to look at the optional skid plate, if its the silver looking one just under the bumper with 2 holes near the front/top, there is no way that hitch would fit. Best to chalk it up as experience, knowing you did what you could, ...... then lock the thread.

Perhaps there is a shop that you could pay to complete the installation for you. It sounds like a simple fab job so it shouldn't cost too much.
So people are mechanically creative and make things work. Other people whine and complain when things don't work. I was just trying to make helpful suggestions...not bash an asshole. Your not one of those are you?

Now I want a skid plate.. and a front hitch. That front hitch looks like a roadkill's nightmare, Just dont want that monster chin of a hitch up there

Did you actually bother to read his first post? He called FOUR TIMES and was given a positive answer, that it WOULD work. What should one do for "proper research"? That's just ridiculous.

Hey I orderd laminx tails for my 09. Said they fit 05+. Turns out, they didn't. I just called em and they handled it fine, I didn't fly off the handle though. Maybe I should make a thread, just to cover my bases.

I was just informing fellow Tacoma owmers of my experience. Not expecting anyone to work around the problem.
I did my part with research.

I am not being a fanatic about a front hitch and skid plate. Not going to a custom welding shop either. I just wanted something to use to hold my surf fishing cooler rack.

Now Mr Torque is calling names and EricT still cant read.

I am not sure who you talked to at Curt Hitch but thye have been very good to m my hitch rusted and they just sent me another one, and I have a 07 and read all the info on the web and it clearly stated that the hitch would not fit with the skid plate. attached is a picture of my 07 with it installed.

A search for "curt front hitch" leads to this post in 30 seconds:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/builds/54309-slygrins-minor-mods.html#post989094

From this post, it's obvious that the optional front skid plate would NEVER fit without modification with this hitch installed.

That's what I would call "proper research". On the internet, one is bound to find a picture or review of most any product.

This isnt really resolvable here. Outback supected it wouldnt work and seems to have done a good job researching by calling, I'm doubting Curt understood what he meant by OPTIONAL skid. Outback's first instinct is right it wouldn't work, now his poor well to do sister is pulled in with standard C.C. security issues and miscommunication now abounds.

Lesson learned: When in doubt, post a humble thread here and ask. Always seems to be at least 2 people here with a link or experience to help out.

(edit) I'm goin elk hunting this week, leavin shortly Y'all have a nie week!!

Reidm3 did not look at the date of what he found on his search of the thread. It was 3 weeks ago. Too recent to have helped.

Placing blame is not credible without checking the details.
