My girl's laptop died, it's a Toshiba C655-S5128. The mainboard appears to be dead. Would it be worth anything in parts?

Take the HDD out of it and maybe the ram.
I like to power them up and drill through the screen. Nice little light show if the screen still has power running to it. Worth a shot.

This one doesn't power up at all. I was thinking maybe the RAM, CPU, WI-FI chips or even the display might be worth something.

Bummer. RAM/HDD.. CPU maybe. Hard to find people who have the balls to take apart their Laptop to begin with. Most people just toss them.

The CPU can be a pain to get to. Sometimes the Wi-Fi isn't easy to get to either. Maybe I'll throw it on CL.

    That's your best bet.

Speaking of PC's, my rig finally took a shit. 9 years and some change is pretty good IMO. Both video cards are now dead, 2 sticks of ram have issues and the kernel is causing BSOD's.

So just ordered parts to build a new one. Looking forward to building another box. I love assembling PC's.

So I guess if you get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem from Cox, it's the Cisco DPC3825. Neighbors have one, all stock settings. Free Wi-Fi!

Score! I used to walk over to people's houses that were unlocked and tell them for 10$ I'd setup their security for them. Lots of times if you just login and reboot their router they'll fork out the cash.

People usually ask me why their internet is slow. Then I show them all the people on their Wi-Fi.

Let me know when you build that case. I've seen lego cases, always wanted to build one.

As for phone S6 over S5. Even if the price is higher, the phone is well worth it spec wise.
