You're in TX, I suggest you hit up @Torspd as he can DEFINITELY point you in the right direction of where to get custom exhaust work done like this.

 

It should be said, however, that some legit muffler shops can be completely "by the book" and won't tamper with proper installation by modifying things like making factory cats removable----which is completely reasonable.

This is when knowing a good welder/fabber can be handy.

 

Back to Nelson Racing Engines, he v-bands everything. Looks sweet. Handles some serious boost.

 

HUGE fan of v-bands myself. One less gasket to worry about. Aesthetics are just a perk.

 

Im actually thinking on pulling my headers one weekend just to make of those wooden jigs, and then i can take them to any fab guy to chop the cats off and weld up the v bands and bolt up on the jig. Guarantee if i bring a jig anyone will tackle it lol.

 

Just trying to track down some higher flow cats...supposedly ours are pretty high flowing already

 

That jig is a fantastic idea. A header company should make one and sell it with the headers. I read through someone's instructions...JBA I think and it discussed install, tack, remove, weld, re-install. Jig eliminates all of that.

 

Exactly. So if i do all the grunt work and make up a jig on my own...i pay $20 in wood and maybe $100 for weld time, instead of the $400++ for letting someone else do it

 

LCE Performance came through. Just came in today.

 

I chose a shop that did custom exhaust work to do the installation of my Doug Thorley shorties. Most of the "speed" shops (around me) are only good for bolt-on wheels/tires, suspension, etc.

Lining up the manifold<-->cat, measuring, cutting, and welding....and making sure the O2 sensor "stem" clears and the manifolds don't rub/bang when the engine torques. This is what a competent exhaust shop should/could do all day.

 

Solid motor mounts make it so the manifolds dont bang

 

Don't want it to feel like my truck mounted a giant vibrator and have my teeth chatter while the truck idles.....

 

Haha from what I hear its mostly just at idle and initial take offs. Ill be LT and 34s to start, so vibrations are gonna already be there lol

 

Solid motor mounts are a bad idea. I have run them in My Galant vr4 and in my evo. They tend to cause bolts for comes lose even when torqued to spec even with loctite

 

Bad idea for street driver and dd sure.

Great idea in play truck or toy or racing

 

Anybody in TX used Kinney's Exhaust? Been looking for a shop. Want headers.

 

Those headers were made by my friend Sik X. He was a fabricator at Hennessey and PowerFab Automotive.

When my girlfiend wanted to install her JBA shorties, we took them to PowerFab and I had them install Vibrant Performance 2.5" V-band clamps between the header and the cats. That way if ever she needed to replace components she could. Or if she wanted to have test pipes made, to swap out with the cats, she would have that option as well. We also installed Magnaflow high-flow cats.

Was it cheap? Nope. Was it proper and modular? Yup.

 

If anybody wants a Supercharger & Fit kit for $6,000 call this 314-849-3700. Dealership willing to sell before they post on eBay.

 

So, like many of you, I have been scrambling to find the fit kit and SC. The SC is not really a problem to find, as most of you know; it's the fit kit that's the problem. Well after a lot of contemplation I am going to wait things out and see what happens in the next year.

BUT..... IF ANYONE NEEDS A FIT KIT, TOYOTA OF CLERMONT, FL HAS ONE...For $800+. They open tomorrow at 7 am EST and like I said, they want $800+ for it. I actually contemplated buying it and reselling for a higher value, but figured the right thing to do is just pass the info on to my fellow tacomians.
