Do you think Toyota will make a Tacoma hybrid in the near future? This could combat the diesels of the other companies by creating more power in the low RPM range and higher mileage around town. I would jump on that.

Have you ever seen a hybrid Silverado? They made them, and they were a MASSIVE flop.
Trucks are trucks and Prius are Prius.

No. No Tacoma hybrid in immediate future. Toyota has the Prius and a ton of other cars with great MPG to get them to the CAFE targets they need to get to.

Just because one company did it wrong doesn't mean another can't do it right.

I own a 2015 Tacoma and a Lexus ES300h. I use the ES for commuting and the Tacoma on weekends. The hybrid system from Toyota is bullet proof. It provides instant torque and paired with the new 2.0L turbo could make for a very interesting truck.

Nothing.. it will be a bunch of stock hybrid over complicated street trucks posing as prius.

Its a cool idea but not one I want, not yet anyway. I am sure someday they will get there.

Also how many people actually mod hybrids? Compared to regular cars based on percentage?

Just a trend. Hybrids use internal combustion engines AND the lithium and cobalt mining process is further destroying the environment in shitty and unstable countrys. And we thought getting oil from the worn torn middle east was bad. Plug in hybrids suck electricity from the power grid which is powered mostly by coal. All the granola munchers in their Priuses think they're so "green" and not doing anything to the environment. Sorry, my 2000 civic will impact the environment less than your Prius, you're just getting better mpg, but that's it.

I want one… but true, I have never seen a Prius with even after market rims. I just know I was happy , most of the time, with my 2.4 five lug and used/abused it doing remodeling. It's about upfront cost and cost of use for me. The day will come.

Chevy has never had a good idea imo. The 350 diesel, the cylinder shut down 8-4 cylinder thing they had. Saturn. Inline5, the crappy oil filters that are just the paper and have to use 1 1/4" super shallow socket when u change oil (other companies use that too im but i had experience on 2 chevy cars only and it was a pita)

I agree mostly haha. Saturns were all junk.

The 6.2 and 6.5 diesels, adapted from I believe a 396 gasser.. those things truly are junk.. they tried to get that goi g for 20 years before they went with izuzu

I believe they still have cylinder deactivation on their v8s, and that has been lame since caddy did it way back when.

Paper filters on the other hand.. my wifes 2006 camry was the first I had to deal with that. It makes sense to waste less but it sucked.

Its all good I smelled what you were stepping in

I do think the new Silverado and sierra twins look nice and have nice interiors but I have never been a believer in the GM fanatics mentality

I think Ford and Toyota were near an agreement to work on hybrid truck technology but then had a falling out. The F150s and Tundras will see hybridization someday, these brands have already spent a lot of money in that direction, maybe the Tacos too. From an engineering standpoint its exciting, there are some serious advantages to power band and efficiency with hybrid tech, but there are a lot of ways to flop as well. In SoCal where gas seems to always hover near $5.00 a gallon, its not only tree-huggers that get on the Pruis/Volt band wagon- I have 2 buddies that went pruis, one with a Volt and another with the new Accord hybrid, and they all haven't looked back- and these are AR15 tooting, drift car building, beer drinking guys-- just can't beat the savings in gas- I think the manufactures see this demographic, and its large enough to get some attention. Either way, CAFE is going to get tougher and tougher, so all that stuff is coming down the pipeline, be it a catch-22 on the environment or not, or even wanted by the consumer.

Ive worked out of em and my family and inlaws have owned gm's and i have been left with a bad taste in my mouth on all accounts. I know every maker has its flaws but it seems like gm takes the cake. Sorry to kinda derail this thread so hybrid blah blah
