Have the same install connection kit behind my bedroom TV. Very easy to install and works great. You will need some Romax wire to hook it up to the existing outlet.

Turns out my Samsung sound bar won't work (I'm pretty sure it won't) the Omni sound bar mounting kit.

I'll have to mount it below the TV which presents a hiccup because it has to have hdmi in and then hdmi out to TV along with my digital optical cable for Xbox.

I'll have to figure out exactly where I am going to mount it below the TV and then put in probably a small receptacle sideways so that it is hidden behind the sound bar but I'll give it a damn good shot.

Good to hear. I just went up into the attic and I can see where the directv cable comes in but I'll have to climb over my furnace to get to it lol

Have to brag about my setup :)

Basically I did not want any equipment in the living room. It would just sit there collecting dust and wiring becomes a crow's nest after a while. I also wanted a receiver that has multiple HD zone output so I can hookup living room and bedroom TV's to it at the same time. This also gives me an advantage to have access to all my media devices from either room.

So here is what I came up with. Got to run to dinner, but I can add more info when I get back.

    Wow. Amazing work

In the second pic, how did you hide the wires to the sound bar? As in, what kind of receptacle is behind it? That is pretty much the way I am going to have to go now that my sound bar won't mount to the TV.

...I've wall-installed two tvs in my home, ...in both cases I used the following for the in-wall power: http://www.amazon.com/Midlite-A46-W...?srs=3035533011&ie=UTF8&qid=1439519029&sr=8-3

i'm happy w/ that product, ..the cable it comes with is good size (at least 14ga), and all you need to get separately is nonmentallic (i.e. "romex" style) cable that you will run in the wall cavity between the two receptacle... it's an easy DIY'er job, ...the only tools you'll need are something to cut drywall (I use utility knife, makes less mess than a saw), something to strip the ends of the individual wires, and a screwdriver... ;)

...as for the tv mounts, I've used some of the sanus mounts I got at target, ...they seem to be of good quality... one I got is an articulating arm-type mount (I use this for a computer monitor setup), ..the other is just a low-profile mount w/ only slight vertical pivot, ..this I use for a tv in bedroom...

I would size it to be the same gauge as that used in the existing wiring on that circuit... if it's a 15A circuit, ..it's probably 14ga, ...but I imagine in some homes they may have used 12ga...

I just looked up romex wire explained. Looks like 12/2 or 14/2 with a bare ground wire will do the trick.

Now to punch some holes in a header and tap into an existing outlet on a wall and go up then back down or find an outlet in the attic to use.

Thanks. Sound bar came with wall brackets, so I just used those. Then I drilled a 1/2 hole right behind it, put a nice plastic grommet on it and fed 3 cables. 1 HDMI IN from the receiver, 1 HDMI out to TV and power cable to for the sound bar. Then I fed sound bar power back through the plate behind the TV and plugged it there. Same goes for HMDI out from the sound bar. Pretty easy.

I just used regular residential in-wall 12-3 romex

Great idea with just punching a hole with a grommet. An HDMI cable will fit though a 1/2" hole??

I may not need to go that route though.

This soundbar mounting kit http://www.omnimount.com/products/speaker_mounts_and_stands/ocsba/ could work for mine, or atleast that's what the reviews/questions on it's Amazon page say. I don't think my soundbar is designed to work perfectly with it, but people are making it work. Worse case, I do what you did and return that mount.

I need some help. This is an outlet in my attic that I want to tap into for power behind the TV. Question is, how do I?

If you can tell in the pic below, the outlet has 2 black wire screws and 2 white wire screws, but the attached wire is connected on opposite screws. Top on one side, bottom on the other.

How do I get power from here??

I honestly don't know. Would I need to trace the source wire back and see?

Alright, got everything ordered. It'll be here this Friday. :yay:

    tv yo.jpg

I also went ahead and cut out the single opening behind the media center where all the wires will run out for connections and drilled a hole through the header.

I'm just waiting on all the parts to show up and get to work!

Why is there a header in that wall with no windows or doors ?

You already have pigtails coming out of the outlet in the back. Wire up your new piece of Romex to those and run it inside the wall down to the behind the TV outlet. Make sure not to mix up hot and neutral.... and kill the circuit breaker before you touch any of it.

I just assumed that's what it was called....? It was pretty thick. A lot thicker than what I thought it would be. Seemed like 2 2x4's on top of each other. :notsure:

Sounds legit to me. Whatever it is has a 1/2" hole in it now.

Using wire nuts? I was going to actually use the unused terminals on the outlet. According to my neighborhood Home Depot electrician, these outlets have a metal bar that links both white and black terminals so that if one is hooked up, both are hot.

And the circuit breaker will be fun. I went and looked and there is one labeled furnace, but if that isn't it, there will be a lot of clocks to reset. :D

I have actually read bad things about 3 wires in a wire nut. That's why I was going to just use the unused terminals.
