Going to get some tint done today. The shop has a 3yr, 5yr, or lifetime tint. Any suggestions on which? Is lifetime worth it?

    Thanks

Spend the more money on the lifetime. Chances are it's a higher quality tint and, if cared for properly, will last quite awhile. You don't want shit tint on a brand new truck. What % are you going to get?

Lifetime. Any problems you take it back they pull old off and apply new. Had to have this done on a 10 year old corolla it started to bubble really bad.

If they're a good shop it's not an option. They will issue a lifetime warranty on all work. I would be cautious about the different options.

hard to tell ... I paid 60 dollars for a 2000 car 4 doors tint at El Paso years ago and not a single issue, mother in law still driving it... great job... and the Yaris paid $350 lifetime warranty including the windshield at addison TX and no issues either... I have that on my pending to do list for the Tacoma...but meanwhile I got a Serengeti sunglasses to pass by this summer....

Check how many years on business the store and BBB ...etc to pull trigger on 350 lifetime..:oldglory:

I am going to get 22% on the front and probably a 50% on the back to knock down the UV. I read that the back windows only block 20% UV and the back doors block 80%.

I'm guessing you have the factory tint on the rear?

If you do some serious off-roading, window tint sucks. When in trees and shady areas of a trail, it's too dark to see around turns and such.

I have had all our vehicles tinted by a local shop in town that has lifetime warranty on all tint. For reference I paid at most $125 for entire vehicle and that was a F150 supercrew. The truck is an 04 and the tint is still holding up

I think cost all depends on the area. For my whole truck plus the windshield strip, it was 250. Normally that'd be with a lifetime nationwide warranty, but I waived that because I had them put on darker than legal tint.

Yes I have factory tint on the rears. I don't like it too dark I can't stand looking in my side mirrors and trying to back up the boat trailer. My grand Cherokee is so dark I don't even have to wear my Costa's during the day.

I tinted mine and the first time in the mud and trees, I almost hit a tree because I couldn't see with the tint and couldn't roll down the windows with mud flying. It seems the Taco is good for flinging stuff right in the window when it's down.

Anyone tint the front window? The shop said they would put 55% on the front window for and extra 115. They said it would keep the truck cooler and protect the dash.

I roll down my windows anyway so I can "hear" better :notsure:

you must be in FL then? (it illegal of course) but 55% is not too dark but, 70% might be better for the front windshield because it's lighter

Yep in South Florida. I don't really like the idea of tint on the front window. I have been in cars where the tint looks blurry and if my front windshield was blurry I would be angry.

might also want to check with you local authorities about window tint laws in your area

here in MI, you can get fined for limo tint on the front driver / passenger side windows

Actually it's pretty close to legal. 22% up front 28% in fl. The backs are factory plus 55% to block extra Florida UVs.
