Can anyone here with a 4.0 and a SC tell me what your fuel economy is with civil driving? Did it go up or down?

My DC got 18.1 with a tank of conservative driving....

I was driving 75 to 90 on the freeway and hard braking and burning out of stops but now I'm keeping my freeway speed down to 70 to 80 and easing into and out of stops.... also note my taco has 1800 miles so normal brake-in could also be a factor.

I do believe he is talking about the TRD Supercharger and not at TRD Single cab.

Sorry I am talking about the 4.0 and a Super Charger.

And By Civil driving I mean obeying all post speed limits and keping the rpms under 4k.

I am wondering if the boost helps or hinders the mpg wwhen not at wide open throttle.

ANytime the SC is makeing boost, it will be useing more fuel. The SC TRD uses (as do most newer super chargers) a by pass that allows it to run like stock under vaccume and get similar mpg. If you drive without getting into the boost, you will get near stock mpg. Once you get into the boost, all bets are off. :)

I decided aganst the S/C until the fuel situation is more predictible.
Bone stock TRD 4 X 4 Access cab Off Road gave me 24+ in mixed driving to the EAA in Oshkosh. I did recheck the math. And I did use the auto`s gears.
I will check it again after changing the boxes to M1.
I have an MRI at Madison V A that will be perfect for that.

On the 05+ Tacomas, the fueling system has not been an issue. On boost wih the TRD SC on the 4.0 engine, the AFR's are around 12.0 to 12.3. Actually running a little rich. The auto tranny has no issue with the SC as it has been used behind the 4.7 V8 in the 4Runner for quite some time now. :)

I think Dan was refering to Premium fuel prices not problems with the SC install.

Ah. Thank you! I see statements like that and I turn into "engine guy", while missing the intended point.

That is not what TRD and my dealer said.
They are turning down about $5,000 bucks. Who would you belive?
