Interesting, my father has a GM truck with 160k miles that has spent 100% of its life not garaged and has been around the country in -20 blizzards and salt to 120 degree sun beatings and the paint is excellent and has never been waxed or polished.

My point is that this kind of stuff can go round and round all day. No manufacturer is perfect, not even almighty Toyota.

Saying "Government Motors" is not research or evidence that the 2015 Colorado and Canyon is junk.

O no doubt, just lightening the mood. Every manufacture is going to have there followers and there haters. It's one of those things just like computers.

I don't understand how people don't realize that just because your brother's wifes's sister's cousin's friend had one lemon that it means all of that make/model will end up the same. We all know someone who had had a GM truck last a long time and someone who has had a GM truck blow up with few miles on it. It's the nature of universe. There are even lemon Tacomas out there that proved unreliable when the macro-trend for them Tacomas is high reliability. Let's look at trends, not what your uncle had happen to him as a way to judge these vehicles.

The truth is though, those who have encountered problems with there new vehicles are less likely to purchase that vehicle brand again, that part is just common sense. Certain companies will have there fans and there haters. I through the gm part in there as a joke. When I purchase a vehicle I buy it for my needs and what is realistically capable for my day to day needs. I think like most people the Tacoma mpg plays a big part of the purchase. I don't have the luxury to have a play truck. So daily driving my truck sometimes over 100 miles a day makes mpgs slightly important.

True. I hear a lot of people say "Don't drive a truck if you care about MPG.". Truth is most of us use our Tacos as daily drivers. MPG counts for a lot.

Agreed! The taco served as the in-between when there was no twin disels or ecoboost. When I bought my Tacoma in 2012 eco boost was just hitting the scene so I opted to avoid the f150 for a proven concept. But now I've seen 3 or 4 f150s in my town that have 200k + miles with the ecoboost engine so it is a slightly proven concept in my eyes. Sometimes I wish Toyota would just venture a little farther like they did back in the day with the supras

    Too few to list.
Everything is all speculation until Toyota does an official release. When that is, who knows. I'm betting Longo Toyota gets the majority of the new 2016's coming in though just like Galpin Ford received 20-30 mustangs when the rest of the Ford dealerships was only getting 2-4 during initial release.

You guys out west get special treatment! The local dealers maybe have 2/4 tacomas on the lot at any given time

I don't think it's so much special treatment. The dealerships here are bigger and I've seen the bigger ones stock 20-50+ tacoma's on their lot. I do know that Longo Toyota is the biggest in the world and during my visits there, they told me they stock anywhere from 2K to 3K+ vehicles between their Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealers and during holiday events, they can move 800+ vehicles a month. This month, I guess it's more than double!

Holy! Probably nice that you don't have to wait for what you want to be shipped from another dealer.

I noticed a white 2nd gen taco yesterday that had peeling paint on the hood. Happens to them all. You could tell it was a defect by the patterned peeling of it.

My '02 has never been garaged and the paint still sparkles after I wash it!

but there are reasons to avoid certain vehicles. A couple of cases in point were Fords with 5.4s, then there were Ford torque converters and how about Ford 's famous failing window regulators. My brothers are diehard F150 dudes. Within one week they had 3 regulators fail on their trucks. How would you like to walk outside in a monsoon and see one of your windows down?

Got a 04 5.4L trident in the driveway! Love the truck but engine has ticked like a diesel sense day 1! Currently gets driven 100 miles a day with 165k miles. Great engine when it runs but man is it notorious for giving people problems

Check out that video @RockLobster. Another member posted it but it is from the Tacoma event and gives the number 278 for HP.

Very informative video. Says City= 19 mpg , Almost 24 mpg for the highway and 21 mpg combined. The truck bed is almost 7% deeper. I guess they they used a thinner composite bed. Also confirms what we already suspect. 278hp / 265lbs. Says the torque curve is the big story. Stays pretty flat throughout the RPM range. At the end the pricing matches up to the leaked sheet. I do not think Toyota will be happy with this video and journalist.
