I imagine a 4x2 V6 will get around 25 mpg. His specs are very vague. Likely there will be a difference between manual and auto V6's as well, but 24-25 MPG is about what I expected. Not hoping for 30 mpg like some on this tread. lol

I can see it now, I wonder how many 'terrible mpg' threads we will see in the 3rd gen section.

Ha, 30 would turn heads at the EPA! I'll take 21 combined any day in these things and 24 on the hwy for a 4x4 - I do a lot of hwy driving

Yes. This is as expected by 90% of us. Toyota isn't gonna work miracles man! 24 Sounds fine to me. Gonna get better mileage stepping up from an 06 prerunner to a DCLB 4x4... can't complain.

If it can do close to those numbers in real world, that would be better than I expected. GM twins are nowhere near that in real world driving.

    Too few to list.
It sure didn't take long from one thread to this 2016 mpg thread.

Yeah it's still word of mouth. You never see EPA figures say "Close to 24 mpg". From the get-go I was predicting 24-25 mpg. Sounds like the engine is going to be good though.

IF those numbers are proven to be accurate once the truck is released and that is what people are achieving, then I will be buying one. I don't even get that in my 2.7 reg cab...

Not really a drastic improvement over current specs. It's an improvement but by a slim little bit.

Makes the decision to hold onto a 2nd gen pretty easy, especially for the modded off road crowd (that additional nose overhang gives me nightmares)

I own a 2013 DCSB OR 6spd and I consistently get 19-20mpg highway real-world. Stretching for the extra 4mpg isn't worth the cost nor the few downsides (since my truck sees off-highway use frequently)

I think the real question is not "what are the MPG ratings", but rather, how well can it hold those ratings when set up for wheeling. maybe it only pulls 20 mpg overall, but if you can toss 35s, armor, and a wind resistant roof rack on it, and still hold a steady 17mpg........now I'm impressed. that's a lot better (from my point of view) than getting 25 mpg stock, but only 12 after you get it ready to wheel.

If I were given cash to buy a new truck I would get the gen 3, but the gen 2 isn't that inferior as far as specs go. Plus it's a proven engine. Not sure it's worth the price-gouging Toyota is doing but I will hold final judgement until I drive one/see on in person/see official specs.

Toyota Tacoma: Born 1995 Died Aug 17th 2015. Rest in peace.

    ...A joke people...
