Any other users get an update email? I'm pretty stoked about them adding Slacker Radio. IMHO it's way better than Pandora

Never tried slacker but looks like the library is 3 times the size of Pandora. Win

Check out the app. The genome that chooses their music seems to have a different vibe. Again my opinion, and not that Pandora isn't good. This one seems to "know" what I would want in a station. I pay for a premium Slacker subscription and those additional functions carry over to the Entune app as well. I can't say for sure if Pandora does this with the Entune app

You stream it via bluetooth into your head unit, or do you have the updated entune with the slacker app in it?

Entune Premium update w/ Slacker app finally. Streaming prior to the upgrade. The apps always sound so much better than BT streaming.

I thought the update is available the 20th. How did you update , via google play? Trying it now, but still seeing the same old entune version. Want to give slacker a shot for sure.

Just received the email. Looks like in order to update the actual entune in the truck will need to do the usb route? Is that what you had to do as well?

The update to include Slacker was out earlier this year.

The recent email (I got it, too) is to replace Bing search with a better destination search engine. What I would really like to see is a way to tap on an address on my iPhone and have "Toyota Tacoma" as an option for "Open with...". I know it's possible from the iOS side, but the Entune app and headunit OS would need some updating.

Yes. The apps for the truck will need to be installed via the update described in the email. For your phone, if your app store has a version of Entune that includes Slacker Radio that should be good to get you going. I'm not sure if there's an update planned for Entune version after the launch but I have it working now. on V 1.15.375.28

From the Entune side, they are accommodating multiple OS so I think your idea my be a stretch for Entune functionality. And they would never add a feature that would have you initiate it from your phone for safety reasons. Even with the vehicle stopped. But I agree, It would be a really nice function to have

It's possible to encode/package data however you want and send it over BT. They have the Entune App for different phone OSs already, so make it send the data to the HU using the same spec that they define and the HU doesn't care where it came from.

Using while driving is always going to be on the driver, but you're right they're going to want to limit it as much as possible from their end. The Bing app already does this, but you have to save it into your "Saved Destinations" and then pull it up on your HU. It'd be nice to cut out the middle step.

I always thought that the voice commands for searching destinations in Bing were pretty functional. Once you learned how it worked. I have not tried the new search app but I will test it and get back with results. I'm afraid that's the best we can hope for from our friends at Toyota Entune

Yea...they're not a software company and the HU OS is outsourced to another company, but I'd rather Toyota focus on building me a reliable, capable truck than one with a Tesla headunit.

I'm assuming that all of you guys are talking about the Entune with NAV and not the poor man's Entune like I have, right?

Sadly, I believe so. It's gotta be the one with Entune "App Suite".

I think Toyota checked off that "lets make a reliable capable truck" box long ago.

The HU in our trucks is well behind many competitors. Slow and cumbersome .

They can Google Voice search "backcountry tow trucks" handsfree while getting realtime weather maps and watching YouTube on their phones via WI-FI...while we go around them.
