    Some really cool shit
Sadie is a Certified Junior Hunter. She got that when she was one year old. But right after that I shipped out to Afghanistan. She got very little training in my absence. I'd love to get her Senior Hunter cert, but until she will hold to shot, and Honor, we aren't going anywhere.

He's been the best investment I have ever made. This dog has gone through hell since day one. Learned that he was almost taken to the pound as a pup, then chained to a dog house for two years, even in the winter storms that produced 3 inches of snow. He wouldn't eat when we first picked him up because they never paid attention to him. Now, he's the happiest creature on Earth! Loves the water, plays fetch on occasion, and enjoys tug-of-war. Named him Bullet considering he runs like one and has seen it all.

Thank you! It's sad that he had such a terrible history, but you would never tell it now. I mean the two previous owners were just outright neglectful. The dog house was at the bottom of a hill, away from everyone. If it tells you anything, the people we got him from would place a big bowl of food that would last for three-four days so they didn't have to check up on him. The water bucket looked as though it had never been washed. Not to mention he was underweight by ten pounds. I believe some of the best dogs come from some of the worst backgrounds!

FT crowd wants to see a really big runner, more than 500 yards up to 1k. Anything that will not go that far is a washout and many of the FT crowd have a lot of dogs and if they don't cut it let them go. You can pick up a close to finished FT washout for a decent price.

Me and the old Toller a few years ago in SD pothole region. Lots of water retrieves. The Captain in the background lives in Boston 6 months and Hawaii 6 months. Hawaii has strict laws for bringing dogs in they have no rabies and want to keep it that way.

The Admiral is a big fan of Weim's, as a 2 star should be Ike was big into Weim's
    [IMG]

The rescue Setter I took to SD last year didn't work out, kept getting tore up on barbed wire and didn't fit our hunting style he ran way too far and bumped birds. I hunted over Steve's Weim's a lot and am thankful for that. The Toller was just too old last year to make the trip. This day it took less than 20 minutes for Gerdie to get these roosters for me. Steve holding my 3 pheasants

The CDR has one of the best pointing labs I know but the lab is getting old. John lives in Spearfish SD and his dogs see a lot of birds in a year. He tried a FT washout GSP but there were a lot of problems with the dog already. Last year when the weather turned bad I drove him from SD to Mn. to pick up another pointing lab from the same kennel as the first. It wasn't a fun drive, was long enough as it was but better than being in the field that day.

And it was well worth it. When he checked out each pup in the litter it didn't take him long to find the right one.

Katie is certified Junior. Could probably be a senior without too much work. Just not interested.
If your training on your own a want to follow a program check out DVD from perfection kennels.
2 DVDs " Perfect Start" and "Perfect Finish". Its what I used and then went to a few of their summer clinics.

My vizsla Bailey. She's 6 months now but the best dog I've ever had, and she is great with the kids. We will probably be getting her a friend soon.

At a cabin in February about 100 yards from the Canadian border, in the twenties below zero outside for a high during the days. Wildlife doesn't see a lot of humans along this stretch of woods. Saw the dog moving toward the window so grabbed the camera hoping he would hop up on the fireplace ledge to take a look. I think they were both shocked for a few seconds at first. Right before all hell broke loose....

Wife worked from home today. Heard snoring from upstairs in the office. Came down stairs and saw this.

I'd like to have a 3 ft piece of rebar and about 30 minutes with some of the past owners of those dogs. We get a story on the news every once in a while about a dog that's been abused and I change channels; I can't watch it.
