shouldn't be long before jalopnik picks up this leak and releases the leaked review 3 days ahead of their own review. makes perfect sense.

You will never justify a new truck to replace a reasonably young, similar truck on fuel savings alone. You'd have to drive bonkers miles at a huge mpg gap in order to make up the depreciation you would eat. It is pretty much impossible to save money by buying a new vehicle.

That said, it is a 15-20% improvement. If you are spending $2k a year in gas, you've cut out $300 to $400 a year in the new truck. The question is when you are standing on the lot looking at a marked down 2015 versus a 2016. The markdown better be masssssive to convince me to jump on the 2015 because the fuel savings could make up the up front difference in the matter of 4 or 5 years (this isn't even going into depreciation which could swing either way.)

Some good points. That gen 2 is looking better and better every time I look at it now. Would love the added tech and new interior but a gen 2 is not that far behind the gen 3 overall.

Yup. Coming up on 5,000 miles with my 2015 V6 PreRunner, and have been at 17 mpg +/- 0.5 on every fill up so far. City/highway mix seems to have little impact. The only long highway trip I did was mostly at 80 mph with a bed full of camping gear, so it was actually a little worse. I wonder if the tires they put on the TSS package are holding it back. It's good enough I s'pose given my short commute, but a 25% improvement would be nice.

24 mpg is pretty good. Like I said already, my 02 V6 4x4 gets 18 mpg hwy with a considerably wimpier engine. Some people here have been expecting 30 mpg, which is just silly.

I knew they were gonna be right there with the GM twins. Toyota has never played mpg wars with their trucks and suvs. They just get shit done while having minimal problems. Go ahead and get better mileage in your 2.7L F-150 ecopoop.

That said, my next truck will most likely be a 2nd gen, not a 2.4 gen. Having a useless moonroof isn't enough for me to take the plunge.

Not impressed with the numbers considering full sized trucks are getting that too. And al the hype that said it would at least match Colorado numbers

Won't be me this time, I just want more HP... 24mpg hwy is great, throw on a lift and 32 or 33s and still get 20-22 would be awesome... What I need for touring the USA....

Except they don't actually get close to that in the real world sans the Ram Eco diesel. But it gets good mileage by being balls slow. Over 9 seconds to 60!
