right now i have the stock head unit with a pioneer amp and a jl13tw5. the stock head unit requires to be wired to the old jbl amp to work. which is crappy because now i have 2 amps and a bunch of wire.

im looking for a head unit that will allow me to just use an aux input so i can use my zune/mp3 player. and also have more control over what notes my sub woofer plays. single dash is fine.

just to make sure if i get the new head unit i wouldnt need the old jbl amp right?

if your'e gonna keep the jbl amp to the door speakers you'll need an interface to connect the aftermarket stereo of your choosing to the factory amp. the interface is retail for 100 bucks but can be had for around 60-70 bucks online.

for the zune i'd probraly look into the pioneers with a front aux. input.
this one comes to mind. front aux, usb, ipod and bluetooth

it really depends on what features you want

Your "kinda" local. If you wannachat about it and come up I would be more than happy to help you out. The Zune is a kewl piece, just too bad the interfaces really arent out there for them. Lots of decks come to mind, but what type of budget do we have to work with here?

ya im going to keep my jbl speakers for now. and i just want the head unit so i wont have massive amounts of extra wire everywhere.

will it give me better control over hi's and low's produced by the sub too?
