Man, I cannot wait until my new brakes finish burning off their chemical coating. I replaced the pads, pins, & rotors on the Tacoma this past weekend and they stink.

Neat read. Of course, the article only paints part of the picture. The power of the dollar was definitely higher then than it is now, even though at that time it was at one of its lowest point in history. However, the major driving factor for the depression wasn't just the suddenly-weakened dollar, it was the massive unemployment rate (25%!) at the same time as a massive farming industry collapse (the Dust Bowl). You had entire farming communities going under, and as a result those suddenly unemployed farmers and farmhands flocked to the cities looking for jobs that suddenly didn't exist.
The real hardship of the great depression wasn't that the dollar was weak (although it was certainly a contributing factor); it was that fully 1/4 of the working population was jobless, in an era that didn't even have the concept of welfare/unemployement payments. Doesn't matter how strong or weak the dollar is if you've got no money.

There's still construction going on but it's wrapping down. Should be done in the fall.

Hey guys, I am in southern maine and need a cap color matched. I got a good deal so I want to keep it rolling, first local shop quoted me $800 to match and the next two shops wouldn't be bothered by it. $800 seems very high, more since I am only $500 into the cap itself... I am willing to drive a bit to get it done. What is everyone else paying and where?

Specs: black dcsb ARE cap painted to match pyrite mica

I painted mine earlier this week in my backyard. Got the paint from
http://www.automotivetouchup.com, they custom make factory colors and can send out a variety of products from paint pens to spray cans or by the pint/gallon.
I think between the paint and the clear, I spent $120. We'll worth it!

Thanks John, I just took my time. Had perfect weather for it, big plus that there was little to no breeze, so barely any dust or pollen to settle on it.:D

I got a quote from a shop in RI for $350 and it was for a full size cap. I know the guy does good work also because he painted my wife's bumper. I did have another shop quote me $900 but I don't think they wanted to do it.

It's the fiberglass though, a lot of shops don't like messing with it.
