My truck gets dropped off at the dealer tomorrow for the frame replacement. I have the 2 leafs plus an overload with a Wheelers 1.5" AAL installed. I like the way it sits now with the Billies set at 1.75" up front, there is a slight rake and it does not squat much with a good load on. Can anyone shed some light on whether I would be better off to let them put the 3+1 pack on if they offer and remove the AAL?

I had the original 10 year old 2+1 leafs, and got the new 3+1 with my frame swap. I took "before", and "after" measurements. They were the exact same height. I am also now @ 1.75", and have also just ordered a Wheeler's 1.5" AAL, as my truck sits exactly level right now. Also like you, I like to have a slight rake.

The point: Your likely going to need your AAL on the new leaf pack.

Good info Fitz, thanks for the reply. Crap, now I'm not sure if I should try to get them to put the AAL under the new pack or wait until I see what it looks like first.

I'm contemplating the same thing. I guess my only concern is spending money on an AAL while still using the inferior Toyota OE spring pack. Is there any evidence an AAL will extend the life of the OE springs, or would a full replacement (OME springs for example) be the better long-term option?

    Decisions, decisions . . .

Have them put the new packs on and throw the old ones in the back of your truck. Take measurements before and after, both loaded and unloaded and see how you like it.

Then you can always go back and add back the extra leaf.

Defects aside the extra leaf absolutely adds life to your spring set.

One thing I never asked my dealer, was if the new pack is the current TSB pack, or if they are the spring recall replacements. My thought was if they were the current TSB's, and were going to get replaced again anyway, you should be able to get reimbursed (per the recall notice) if you buy an aftermarket set of leafs. The one caviat in that, is that it states that you had them replaced due to a defect in the spring(s).
