Not being a dick a here just want to point out its alot easier to adjust a coil without load than with load, that just makes sense to me since day 1 of trucks....but oh well, i also spent an entire deployment researching prior to installs

And as for the bracket on the spindles, Im genuinely curious which bracket you're talking about? I dont recall modifying anything when we installed mine? Pics?

Congrats on the lift, looks good!

yeah you had to cut a bracket, I think it was the bracket that holds the abs wire and attaches to the spindle

The adjustment ring on the coilover wouldn't budge with the vehicle in the air. They bent the wrench trying to turn it to lower it. They had to completely remove the coilover and compress the spring to adjust the ring. It cost time and money. Not sure why this is?

You have to cut the bracket for the brake line otherwise you will have problems. Two tabs need to be cut. Luckily I am a carpenter so I set up a system to cut it cleanly.

I guess you could just remove the coil from the strut whenever you want to adjust it just to save yourself some money. The easiest way without a spring compressor is this. I used to do it the hard way until I found this and I have used it every time. You could have it out, adjusted, and reassembled in like 15 min

Ok thats weird, I lifted my truck up to full droop and was able to adjust my coilovers just fine. Got mine with a good 2" of thread preloa as well, sounds like your adjustment rings were binding up for some reason. Weird.

I'm still not seeing the brackets lol, IIRC mine bolted right up just fine.

I am taking pics now, it doesn't affect installing them, it is more so it doesn't rub the brake lines when you turn I believe? idk really it didn't seem like a big deal

The truck was brought to the dealer for the alignment and tire install. Since I had 6 inch lift in front I requested they drop the ring down to level the lift. They encountered the issue with the ring. I had to pay them RR for that and truck stayed overnight. Not a pleasant situation!

The bracket is there with the two wings sticking out that need to be cut. This is why the instructions need to be a little clearer in the presentation so it is not missed. You will hear and bang in the front when you turn, I would imagine, if you didn't cut it. I caught mine after everything was assembled and no wheels on I tested for steering clearance and that is when I saw it.

Its not the brake line rub, its sway bar and tie rod I believe. You would hit the bracket when you do a hard turn.

Oh boy, you had the dealer adjust an aftermarket part? Did you try to do it yourself first? I would never, NEVER let a dealership touch my suspension. Ugh, wish you were local lol, Id have adjusted those for free lol, would take maybe an hour tops. What did they charge you to do that?

I am telling you just disassemble the coil over if it is that hard to turn. easy and doesn't take long.

Minus a spring compressor, takes maybe 10 minutes to remove coilovers from the truck, then you can get them on a bench to adjust...i prefer to just lift the truck and adjust that way you can set the truck up and down to see exactly where you want it.

That is why I installed everything. The intent was to avoid them touching anything other than tires, wheels, and alignment. I anticipated that moving the ring downwards on the coil spring was easy. Nothing indicated a potential problem beforehand. So the decision was made to have them move it down while it was on the lift for the tires.

This dealership does aftermarket lifts all the time on Tacomas and Tundras. The lead mechanic that does those lifts was working on my truck. So the competency of the tech was verified beforehand.

Also, you guys are quicker than me doing this stuff. It would take me a lot longer than 10 minutes per side. It takes me probably 20 minutes to get everything together and to prepare to jack the truck up.

Ahh ok, i thought you had someone else install everything. Competancy aside, I still wouldn't let a dealership touch something that has my life in its hands. Shit just for my supercharger ecu reflash i was so worried i popped the hood at the dealer just to visually verify if anything had been touched or changed and then torque tested everything in reach when i got home lol. Ive heard way to many horror stories about shit being left in the engine bay, bolts not even hand tight, missing nuts and pieces. Shudder.

I've messed with my suspension in my old truck so many times I have it down to a science lol. Remove sway bar from spindle. Remove bottom shock bolt, loosen all three top bolts...then remove....push suspension down super hard, pull out coilover. 10 minutes tops these days lol. Biggest problem is 3 top bolts for coilover, hard to get a wrench in there, especially the back bolt.

You could cheat and be a little sketch and lift the truck, throw a ratchet strap on the coilover and just put some tension on it to relieve stress off of adjustment ring, put it where you want and then slowly relieve ratchet strap. If you do it just enough to let a little tension off the ring, strap should still stretch enough that you arent creating a gap and it won't pop up to the ring.

Ya my fox coilovers came with too much pre load also but we were able to adjust it while they were on the truck and on the lift. Just sprayed some wd 40 or else that ring wasn't moving. Tried using a vice to hold it but the shaft kept spinning so that wasn't much help.

That is why I don't like anyone touching my truck. I change my own oil, everything.
