It's irritating that nothing can really be done about it. Local and state laws just believe that "adequate shelter" is enough for a pet. If you don't have the time for an animal, place them in a good home of someone who will instead of letting him/her suffer!

I like her. You keep her nice and trim.

This dog has energy like no other. Outruns all the dogs at the park.

Thinking about a vizsla as a second dog. Absolutely love them. Maybe it will be able to tire out Gracie

I can't get any weight on her. She gets 4 cups a day, plus treats. She's one of those tall lanky types. Then again, she's only three years old.

I see nice muscle tone and don't see any ribs. I'd say she's on the money.

Go over to http://gundogforum.com/ there's more on nutrition than you'll ever need to know. Plenty of opinions and dust ups.

Lot of other good stuff too.

Gizmo, we rescued him 2months ago, approx 3yrs old, Shelter said Weimaraner/hound mix, has a ABPT head, does have the Weimaraner chest though. He was hours from being put down, had been in shelter for 2 months, former being that brought him in requested euthanasia ( its on the paper work we got ) This is probably the sweetest dog we've ever had, very energetic, very mellow. the idoit that turned him in wrote that he barked all the time, and that he was tied up outside all the time.

Dogs are not yard art !

in the pic we took him camping with us for the first time, did very well, only barked at other stray dogs. had him out in the front yard with me earlier today, no leash, never able to do that before with our previous dog, was pretty cool. He's a keeper !

For all you guys with hounds:!

What exercises do you do to work on recall? They just follow their nose and can't trust mine yet at 9 months

My 7 month old Ridgeback is the same way. He would rather sniff around the pond and chase ducks instead of listening to me. Shaking his bag of treats or a tug toy are the only way I can gain his attention.

You start with the pup saying "here" while ruff housing & lovin' on him. Then get a check cord (25' leash) hook him up, walk out the length of cord.
Say "here" simultaneously with a gentle jerk on the cord and pull him in easy. Luv on him when he gets to you. Tell him he a good boy . Do it all over again.
Maybe 3 times at a session. Couple times a day. Don't over do it. Make it fun. puppies have a short attention span. Same with an older dog and you can be a bit firmer.
Let them know coming to you is a good thing.
