You would never be able to S/C / turbo, and you would likely have to run race fuel (100 octane) or E85 ethanol. you could prob make 300 crank HP but it would not be street friendly.

You sound like me when i was 16. LOL.

Seriously, if you want to make power, do:
    ES300 crank
    forged rods/pistons (stock compression ratio)
valves / springs / valve job
cams if you want, but if you go too crazy, need to swap to shim under bucket
    cometic HG
    ARP studs and main studs
    a nice turbo.
    fuel upgrades
    standalone EMS

Haha Thats exactly what im headed towards at the moment (unless i can find rods and pistons out of another engine for less money) I was just toying with the idea of high comp vs medium boost and i think in my case medium boost will work best.

Quoted for truth. Don't know if it was mentioned in this post as well, but CXRacing makes a really cheap turbo kit for the 5vz, it could be a good starting point (would probably need to replace the wastegate, BOV etc over time). I would do the above but would probably rock OE cams, and would try with an EMU before giving up and going standalone, just because I'm quarky like that.

I can totally relate to the "sounds like me in my youth" comments haha.

Update: Ok so I've been at a crossroads for a bit... The thing is I could sell my current truck and buy something better like a 1st gen DCSB TRD off craigslist with highish miles (which i don't mind), buy a second work truck, then build up a 5VZ (which will take longer) or... I could keep my current truck and build up my current 5VZ after buying a second work truck. Soooooo which do you guys think would be a better decision? either one would work out perfectly for me its just that the first one will prolong the 5VZ build...

You should buy a 5vz longblock from a scrapper and build it while you drive your current truck. Then you wont have a truck in pieces on your driveway for 3 years like somebody else i know.... ;)

Working this weekend but Ill def weigh in when I have some time off. Not going to be cheap or easy, would def recommend getting a donor motor and building that. Swap your current motor with the built one.

Customtacos.com is going to be a better forum for discussion than TacomaWorld, btw.

BTW, recommend these guys for Con Rods. Best rods for the money, hands down.
