Nope my factory "skid" is long gone. I want to make a front one for the extra clearance. Don't care about the stock one. Sway bar is off. I've got a high clearance rear. And ive got open diffs. That's the bad part.

Kent thanks for the offer but I got my skids worked out today. For some reason my all pro ifs skid is drilled uneven. 5 1/4" to center hole from one side, 6 1/4" from the other. Made for an interesting mount to relentless mid skid... Altered the back angle of the all pro with a bfh and it fits pretty damn good.

@552Jrider if this guys offering help and you need it I'd take it!!

I know! He had a tundra that got stolen from the dealership during an oil change. Then he bought a jeep. Then he sold his 83 dual case crawler. I don't know wtf he's thinkng. He has already taken the jeep through slick rock with a spacer lift .

I guess he wants to build something pre 75 next...

Looks good. Thanks for the offer. I'm gonna make a set of skids. I've got the tools. Just haven't had the time and haven't picked up a sheet of 3/16 steel.

Awesome! Can't wait to see your craftsmanship! I'm big supporter of DIY projects. When everyone grabs parts from the same bucket it loses it's wow factor.

@BudMan Glad you got it handled! A BFH is an important tool! Thanks for promoting me too! I keep offering to TW members but no one has taken me up on it yet! My Buddy @tigjitsu and I work together at least once a month on something. By the way we can add him to the list. Also I'm confirmed to go. Wont be doing the regearing tell after the trip.

Go 1/4" I've bent the shit out of two sets of 3/16" even with extra bracing. My 1/4" has lasted a lot longer, but I rape my truck

The wieght difference isn't that much, for a transfer case skid highly recommend a strong as hell skid, that's what your truck abuses the most as far as full truck wieght hi center type shit

Yep. I need to take mine off and bend it back. It's hammered after my last outing. It makes contact with the crossover on th exhaust and Tcase and adds a bunch of vibration while driving. Once this one is is torched I'll get 1/4" bf3163bf4b04e697214a484db2de89fa_a9e9b863e9d4d3c6fd030dcfcc5a6b59b07a2688.jpg

Always good to have thick protection when you play in unknown places

I'm getting one of Jerrys 1/4" ifs skids :spy:... For now 3/16 is WAY better than nothin for the tcase but one day I'll upgrade. The weight difference is negligible to me. I'd rather have the extra protection. Plus I don't really daily drive it.

Thoughts on being able to complete this trail with only sliders for armor, and 255/85/16 tires? I don't mind having to be winched if necessary, but would like to keep damage to minimum.

3/16 is fine. It will just get hammered sooner than 1/4. I'm used to driving a tank though. I have a shell and am loaded with tools 99% of the time.

I'd imagine you'll be fine. There will only be a few spots of concern and winching or bypassing the hardest line would work to your benefit.
