After listening to my heat shield rattle for long enuf I went under the passenger side to tighten up the bolts. Not only was one of them so corroded it snapped at the first turn, all the holes in the shield are toast too. Anyone have a good way to re-attach without using the bolts or holes, like some industrial two-sided tape? Kinda half joking on that but what if?

Way too thin to weld if you have acess to a welder I would weld a bolt to the one that broke and put huge washers on to reattach it

Another question I should have asked; how important is this shield anyway? Is it just to keep the passengers feet from getting warm? Will the cab heat up significantly? How much harm can come from leaving if off? I live in the cool mtns where I don't even run my AC in the summer anyway.

Same thing happened to me. I was able to knock out the rest of the stuck bolts and just used dry wall anchors and a few washers. It's tight and no more rattle. I'm sure it will rust in a couple years but oh well it cost me nothing and took 15 min.

Just remove the bolts and get new ones.

Won't work. There is nothing to bolt too.

Next time look at your heat shield before replying.

What's your malfunction slick? I know exactly what a heat shield looks like. Washers, either home brewed or store bought, are magical things. They make big holes smaller.
