So I'm kicking around some ideas here and want some input. I am looking at new tires before winter. Currently running Duratrac 285s with no rubbing. Due to the type/ frequency of my off road trips I am leaning towards the new BFG all terrain since it is really good in the snow from what I have read. I'm running 16x9 rims with 4.5 backspacing and am I am thinking 305/70/16s but the 315/75/16 is about the same price. What do you guys think? I don't mind cutting "which I have" but I am worried about OEM UCAs and backspacing.

    Thoughts?

The OEM UCA will get in the way. My SCS wheels are 4.5 BS (and only 8"s wide)and I have to run a .75" spacer with 315's. And really I needed 1" spacers.

You are gonna need new UCA'S and a spacer with 315's. So you might look more at the 305's but you still might have issues.

I'd go with the duratracs. I have the BFG AT on my Chevy now and have had the duratracs on my runner. I like the duras better.

Do you have the new KO2? I like the duratracs but I don't think they are the greatest in snow like everyone says. Compared to a MT maybe...

We have the KO2s on our tundra and we could not get that thing stuck last winter. They far outdo the KOs in snow.

I have been looking at them as I need new tires. The truck isn't my DD anymore so I can think differently when I buy tires this time. Snow, hauling stuff around and wheeling are really the only times I will drive it. :notsure: :goingcrazy:

I found the duratracs were good in the snow but Ice is an issue with them. Not really a problem in the 4runners as it has more weight in the back end. Mine are not the new ones on my Chevy but they did great in the crazy snow storm that happened late, I would run them again on a my Chevy or a diesel just because I think they are a better street tire than the duratracs and they will have longer tread life with towing and what not.

I like them. IMO I'd rate the KO2s as a good balance between offroad and street tires. My KM2s do awesome offroad, siping them helps in the snow. They do have a little softer compound so wear a bit quicker but I've been running the same set for a while now and I DD it.

Good info thanks guys. I am just trying to make a responsible choice. I drive to the mountains a lot and have slipped on I-70 a few times. Never had an issue offroad though...

Think for here either (Duratracs or KO2) are the best options, but BFGoodrich (tires only) was bought by Michelin in 1988 and they no longer make tires in USA.

I'd suggest either the Cooper STT Maxx or the Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 if it's not your daily and you want something a little more aggressive yet still maintain good on road manners. From what I've read, the Mickey's offer a little better traction in snow compared to the coopers. They're not necessarily a snow rated tire though.

The P3's will absolutely 100% be my next tire. However they're $300 a tire for me (35's). Currently, 4WP has a save $75 instantly on a set of 4 Mickey Thomspon's with free shipping. BFG has the same, without free shipping.

I wanted to share this on here and I know some of you may have seen it on Facebook. This is about as real as it gets. A friend of mine "who I had no idea was homeless a few years ago" is in such a tight spot that he has resorted to setting up a gofundme in order to fix his car which supports his income. He is a disabled Army medic and is set to go to RN school this year. He has three kids and has tried everything at this point... At a minimum please read his story. If you feel inclined, give up a coffee for a day and pitch in $5 or $10 and see how far it goes. Thanks guys...
