Gap where the hood prop goes?
I have had the panel on for about a year, no issues with stuff going into the gap.
    Mind the gap.

I think you didn't see the previous post with a picture. Not the hood prop gap...I think the version Matt will make doesn't have requires to not have a hood prop...you need hood struts. The gap I was referring to was the opening near the headlights. Go back to post #199.

Far as sheet metal is concern...I can't speak for Matt since it's his decision and company, but to me...it's just a little bit more sheet metal that has to be laser cut and then he does all the bends he needs to do. Filling in that gap is not really that big of a deal to accommodate.

My issues were that to call this a cooling panel...provide some results if you are going to market as that. If the end user don't care whether that works or not is another thing, but just call it a cover then. I think it looks nice, but then if it's a cover...why not cover the gaps to side of the panel?

Gotcha. Sorry for not knowing the full convo. Will check that out. Let me read up a bit.

Yeah, I got it more for the tool shelf myself. I can't speak with knowledge in regards to the engine temperature with the install.

@imom To be honest, I have never had issues with those sides on the panel. I am actually going to run to the driveway to see what that gap actually looks like.
I agree about the data, maybe someone with an ultragauge/scangauge will be able to do that data.

@imom Okay, I see what you are talking about. That gap there. It really has not been an issue in the year it has been in my truck.
It is a small piece on each side, maybe about 6" in added length to the panel which maybe would drive the cost up more? Maybe the pieces don't come that size? It would be complicating the design a little more. Just playing the devils advocate.

All I can say is that I am glad that it is a part of the truck as I (and mechanics) have used it quite a bit.

Ok, so I've read the entire thread and looked at the website, am I correct in that the 2005-2011 cooling panels are only available without the hood prop cut? I realize the current "group buy" is for the 2012+ and is without the hood prop cut but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something somewhere as I don't necessarily want to buy the redline hood struts just to make this work.

It's sheet metal...another 6" is not that much more money...it's the labor involved in just designing, cutting, and bending. All of it is already there from the original design. It's only up to Matt if he wants to mess with his current design. Shipping was about $30 for me...seems a bit higher than normal for piece that size and weight, but it is what it is...so another 6" is not going to bump shipment cost either.

For Big Tea...I believe this group buy is only for without hood prop.

@imom Contact OP and see what he can do for you/us. I agree with your logic, but the fact of the matter is that most people want it for aesthetics rather than actually functionality, but I could be wrong. 90% of the people who bought it already probably bought it because it looks cool and there is a tray to hold your bolts.

Wasn't the looks sold that me on it. It was more for the function of the tool shelf & tray that drew me in.

Yeah, I got that about the current "group buy". Maybe I should be more specific in my question: Do the ones for the 2005-11 come with the hood prop cutout? Or is that not longer an option? 1st post says it is, but website doesn't have it listed as an option. I probably just answered my own question...

This group buy is for the 12+ only trying to get 15 people comitted so he makes a run of them and there is no hood prop cut out for this version. Hood struts are required.
