F150 2.7 is a teach to the test motor. On CR loops, which almost always beat the highway EPA rating, the 2.7 is down at 22mpg despite the EPA rating of far higher than that.

    2wd is 19/26, 4wd is 18/23.

Only know one 2.7 owner and he gets EPA numbers without issue.

Mileage figures for these trucks will never be high. It's about the aerodynamics and they will always suck on a truck . Be happy with 25 mpg highway with a truck acquitted for off road where the single biggest factor is the undercarriage drag. Unless you swap your truck every 3 years, the Toyota will just keep cranking it's mileage out for mile and mile after mile and the first repair job you have to pay for on a Ford completely negates the mileage advantage. I do the gazintas and One major repair will eat up any advantage a Ford ever had in mileage.

Yup. If you're buying American buy Ford. It's the only company that's made changes that weren't government mandated. The company still has family members that are involved that give two shits about the brand.

Will you all just STFU about the EcoBoost? It's getting tiring

No it's not. Full sized trucks that weigh considerably more are getting better mpgs.

The improvement is virtually nothing from 2015.

The EPA ratings are 20/23. So like 1-2 mpgs better.

The majority of Toyotas sold in the world are made in the US. Fords are made in Mexico.
Love my Ford but hate the American vs. Forign bullshit. Ford is American owned but not made.

Buy the better truck for one's needs.

Eco boosts may get EPA numbers when driven like grandma but from what I have read on other forums is in the real world they fall well short.

    17/21 for a 4x4 manual. Pathetic.

18/23 for the automatic 4x4, not what what the video said.

    Piss poor, IMHO.

AutoGuide says the details are released. Could just be using info from the video, who knows? It was posted around 2AM. Here is an excerpt:

+1... My Gen 3 "hard on" has gone limp. I hope to be blown away by the ride and build quality or else I'm going to start looking at 2014/2015 tacos instead. I just can't see myself paying near or full msrp (which most people will pay once this truck hits the streets) if it isn't light years better than the 2 gen.

TFL summed it up: Better efficiency, higher payload, higher tow rating, more power.

They also say it's much quieter and nicer inside the truck, as well as probably performing better off-road than the previous generations.

If that's not a substantial step forward then I guess I'm not sure what you're looking for.

Maybe you just lost your boner because you started thinking about stress from work or you drank too much. I know that happens to me someti...wait...what? Maybe a test drive will relight your engine.

All bolt ons + tuning solution. Capable of running high 13's.
Now that the EPA numbers are out lets see how the Fuelly.com AVG numbers look and how they compare to the twins.
Those are the ones I really trust.

I dunno if I would say it is a substantial step forward. It is a slight step forward. Not really surprised, Toyota likes to take baby steps...rather than leaps forward. Just think, in another 10 years they might break 25 mpg...

Think I need more coffee....I keep yawning at this "improvements".

Increase in HP (~17.5%) & towing (~5%), same size truck, same or better MPG = winning in my book.

Well, what were your expectations? Obviously everyone wishes they could have the utility of a truck with the fuel efficiency of a compact - but that's not where we're at, unfortunately. Plenty of people are buying cars and wagons with combined fuel efficiency of 22-24mpg. Plenty of people are buying SUVs with fuel efficiency of 18-20mpg. I'd be happy with a truck getting 19-20mpg. Would 30 be better? Absolutely, but it's not realistic.

I wasn't expecting much to tell you the truth. I have been a loyal Toyota owner for 25 years now...this redo is a typical conservative Toyota.

If anything...getting tried of Toyota being so conservative, makes me want to go look at other brands...never thought I would say that. I used to be a die hard Yota fan boi....

If I am going to buy a car or wagon, it absolutely has to get over 30 mpg, plenty to choose from out there.

Utility of a truck and the efficiency of a cahr....Ram already has that with 29 mpg in their EcoDiesel...the Colorado diesel will get it too, prolly a little more to break over the 30 mpg mark...won't be cheap tho'. GM might have a winner with the oil burner Collie, I am guessing.
