    1. “BuildmeaBadAsstruck”

    • Design directive from Chief Engineer, Mike Sweers: “Create an enhanced product with bad ass styling”

I think they misunderstood and instead heard " I am an ass, build a bad truck" and they did.

MPG is a little less than I was expecting, but oh well. I'm getting around 12 MPG combined city/highway in my 2006 4Runner V8 with 33's. I just pay extra at the pump to drive a bad ass truck. The Tacoma will almost double what I'm getting now so as much as I wish it's specs were better, I really can't complain.

I haven't even looked at the Colorado/Canyon. My family has had terrible problems with all of the Chevys we've ever had, and if you look at the Colorado forums, the problems continue on the new models. Every Toyota we've owned never failed us, and they were all purchased with over 100k miles on them and driven hard.

No need for a full size for me. I take my 4Runners on tight trails to get to my hunting spot that has caused body damage to our full size trucks when we used to have them. I don't tow heavy loads and I need something super maneuverable in the woods with a bed that's reliable. The Tacoma is the only vehicle that suits the bill.

:rofl:oh dear that mpg is terrible. It's 2016.

Glad i didn't have my heart set on one, cause that's just a huge disappointment. And a deal breaker for me.

Maybe I misread, but is the ground clearance actually 9.4 in, which is .3 more than the outgoing 15 OR and .1 in more than the 15 Pro? And 1.1 more inches than a Calomino? I'm telling you, the street squeegee matters for MPGs.

I was expecting 32 MPG/city, 400HP, 450 torques, 10,000lb towing capacity, 1 ton payload, and self-driving. Fuck Toyota. They failed so hard. This new Tacoma is a piece of shit.

All they have to do was make that truck better than Colorado ...
And they failed even at that.

I liked better when Toyota was designed in Japan... just saying.
Land Curiser Designed in Japan, 4runner Designed in Japan.

I am on the whiny bandwagon too. You'd think with new transmission, smaller displacement engine than GM twins, Atkinson's cycle and reduced weight could best the Colorado in MPG. Weaksauce. Then again, I heard in one review going 70 mph on the highway can get around 26 mpg, which is what I usually cruise at anyway.

Pickup truck.com review was pretty positive... especially about the get-up-and-go and interior.

This is nothing new for Toyota though. Since when have they given a shit about specs? The first gen Colorado had some better specs than the gen 2 Tacoma did and look at the legacy of the gen 1 Colorado. It was total shit. Even with a V8 option they were shit trucks.

    nothing cool
Sucks that people bought the TRD Pro Inferno Red thinking it was going to be a unique "one of a kind" color. And now they'll be a standard color everywhere. I'm happy with my 2011 for now. I really do like the new 3rd gen except for the front end.

did i miss read and/or not know correctly to begin with, that the 2.7 option is gonna get worse MPG in the 16 than the 15? wasn't it upto like 27 hwy in the 2nd gens 2wd? and is the same 6 spd auto available for both the 4 and the 6 cylinders? it looks like it would have gone up also, unless the rearend is geared lower

GM wins on the specs. I'd still rather have a Toyota though. Remember the first gen Colorado? Had a V8. Still sucked.

Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. All Pro Apex front bumper (rattle canned Rustoleum primer + flat black). Plasti-dipped emblems. Mud flaps removed.
The truck isn't that bad. But it is confusing how we can lose both torque and mpg lol. This thing better be a f*#kin riot to drive. Front end looks like Sid from that ice age movie....

    From pickup trucks.com

"Keen observers will note that that new 3.5-liter D-4S V-6 has more than 40 horsepower more than the outgoing all-aluminum 24-valve V-6 and 1 less pounds-feet of torque, with a maximum peak torque rating of 265 pounds-feet at 4,600 rpm. Yes, the new motor has less torque but a much better throttle response due in large part to a flatter, longer torque curve. That's why the engine (perfectly mated to the new quick-shifting six-speed) feels like a bigger, more powerful version of the 4.0-liter it's replacing."
