I am in the market for a Double Cab Tacoma 4x4, I ve recently found a 2009 with 33000 Miles on it for $24K at a local dealership. I really don't "need" the TRD package since I have a Jeep for my off roading and I am looking at this as more a daily driver with more utility capability than my Forester. How many of you out there bought the base plain jane 4x4's and regret not getting a TRD? I feel like the only thing I want is the locking diff from the TRD package. I can always ad fog lights, accessories and a better set of tires down the road right?

    Thanks
    Keith

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I bought a base model, not even a SR5. I've had no regrets about it. Now I'm looking at adding more goodies to it (lockers and regearing)

I bought a new 2015 Base 4 x 4 intentionally. No TRD, No SR, no SR5. I am adding the things I want (fogs, camera, leather seating) and not paying for the things I don't. I am not well versed on the model trim differences for a 2009 though.

The only consideration for me was the locker, but it was not nearly enough to consider moving from the base. With my driving it should not be an issue.

FWIW 24k seems high for a 2009, but I suppose it is a dealer price - you should negotiate down. Only 33,000 miles is great, but still a 2009 is going on 7 years at this point.

Lomez I was thinking the same thing about the $24k for a base 2009, not sure if the market here will let me negotiate. But, I ll go in whining about how its a 2009 and not a TRD and see what they come up with.

    Thanks guys!

If you absolutely are set on having a locker, you can always add ARB air lockers
