Not that it matters now, but the rear seats in my 2014 DC fold flat and I have 3 dogs that ride back there without any issues.

One can never have too many light bars.
The Tundra from a Powertrain Standpoint is severely outdated. Toyota can't do the 10 year remodel on half tons and expect to be competitive with the American Manufacturers that refresh about every 5 years and offer much better discounts.

Do you do a lot of towing or hauling?
Would be interested how the V6 Ecoboost holds up to heavy loads and towing.

Give us updates on how you like it and what advantages you think it has over the Tacoma.

I've always had an F250. Had an access cab for a few years and two years ago got a double cab.
Double cab is a must in a truck. I really like the Tacoma, especially because I can mod it up and make it look like a hot machine.
But I'm kind of belly aching about the space I'm giving up and the MPGs IMO really do suck for a midsized. I'm considering an F150.

    Cons about the Tacoma:
    -MPG
    -towing/payload
-back seat room (it really is super tight for all the long distance travel I do with passengers)
-Cost (it is over priced because of demand)

great looking truck. I traded in a 2013 Focus ST for this Tacoma. I was impressed with the build and quality of the ST, I am sure you will enjoy the F 150. If it were me, I have seen too many Ford/Chevy trucks with rusting bodies... I would consider some level of undercoating if you live in a winter salt area.

I have owned 7, never had a body rust issue.... frame rust, different story. BTW, my truck was undercoated by the previous owner and I am glad they did... 5 years old and the frame/under looks new.

You can get an 4x4 XLT SuperCrew 2.7L Sport for $35-36k. The Tacoma 4x4 DCSB Sport is over $34k without any options. While the F-150 is more, it's 1-2k at most, not 10k.

Plus you get disc brakes in the rear and power seats. :woot:

    Yep - To clarify...

    F-150 was about 37.5k
16 Tacoma would have been between 37.5-38k

Yes, I see where you are going with this... but they are easily removable! I prefer to have them and just remove them when I occasionally go off road.

So, you researched the Tacoma for 5 months, then went in and bought the F-150 on a whim?

    Typical Ford owner

...JUST KIDDING!!! Enjoy your new truck. :D

Sounds like the price was right...It's hard to back out when your negotiating works and you get exactly what you want!

I did consider it and I still think that the double cab (not CrewMax) is the perfect size cab for a truck. Like others have said, the fuel economy is terrible and ultimately made me not consider it. Is it a badass truck? You now it.

The TRD PRO Tundra is awesome. If it was under 40k and got better gas mileage... I may have bought that instead.

I need a mid size truck. I would prefer a Tacoma as I'd get a 6 speed manual. I followed all the updates hoping the Tacoma would be my next vehicle. I owned a 4th Gen 4Runner for 6 years and wish I still had it (too many kids). Every time Toyota released (leaked) information, it seemed to get less and less impressive.

    - Keeping drum brakes. Okay, not that big of deal, but damn that's cheap.
    - Hey, look at the price increases. Well, it's not legit yet, but that seems steep. It's full-size territory.
    - Keeping the basic 4-way manual seats. Sure would be nice to lower the seat like in my 4Runner. Again, not a huge deal.
    - Hey the frame stayed C-channel and flexes to "help articulation." Really? Not a huge deal, but again being cheap.
    - Quite a big drop in HP compared to the GM twins. Perhaps they'll crush the fuel economy?
    - 17/21 MPG for a manual? Wut? 18/23 for a manual. Hey, you matched the Full-Size F-150 with 40 less hp and 110 less ft-lbs.
    - Tow package is optional on the Sport. Things are looking swell.

So now i'm looking at spending $35,000 and comparing a Tacoma and an F-150.

They are both roughly the same purchase price. The F-150 comes with more power, more towing capacity, more payload capacity, will likely be much faster, and gets the same fuel economy. Plus it has more standard and optional features.

So while I would prefer a mid-size truck, my money seems to get me a lot more when I go full-size. I also don't do anything more than trails to campsites so the size isn't that big of a deal.

So go ahead and say I was never a fan.
