    Congrats man.

Agree on the thought of paying full sticker just because you're an early buyer. It's out and your depreciation hit would be higher than those able to wait/postpone their need.

Congrats! Nice looking truck. You might have wanted to wait a bit for Ford to update super cab with the steel bars in the front wheel wells.. Do some research and read about the IIHS crash test. Since IIHS tests the most popular model, Ford put reinforcement bars in the 4 door crew cab, and not the super cab which they didn't think would be crash tested by IIHS, this saves them $58 per vehicle. The videos are pretty clear what happens without the reinforcement bars. I'm really disappointed in Ford for trying to game the IIHS test at the expense of drivers' safety. Supposedly, this will be addressed in future supercab models.

Once $$ figures are announced up here in Canada, I will do the math and decide. I test drove the F150 crew cab and like how spacious the cabin is.. long term reliability, i.e. 15 years is the average ownership for me - of the twin turbos is a concern to me.

Please keep us posted on real world MPG.

Congratulations on your new truck, it looks like it is a beauty!

You have to make a decision that best suits your needs and you took the blinders off and did that.

After the release of the "Official Specs" on the 2016 Tacoma today, all I can say is "Yawn". The 2016 Tacoma certainly makes it easier to look at competitor vehicles through wide open eyes.

Can't figure the mileage improvement, it seems that they went from a bullet proof motor to the new one and maybe gained 2 MPG's??? I don't get it.

Good luck with your new truck, I know Ford Trucks totally dominate in my neck of the woods...

So, there is gobs more room in the back seat of an f150 extended cab vs a 16 Tacoma DC? I rode in the back of my buddies 15 Silverado extended cab, and at 5'8" I had to sit sideways.

A Tacoma DC has a little more room than the back of an extended cab 150, but the usable space (the flat floor) opens it for me to be able to load up the dog and whatever else I need. I would say seating wise, a 6'> person would have to turn sideways in the back of the 150 where they would probably have an inch or so in a Tacoma DC.

Absolutely. This is how you toast your buns during tailgating.

Congrats OP. My family owns a 2013 DCLB Tacoma as well as a 2015 Ford F150 DCSB XLT XTR 4x4. I went with the Coyote V8 for simplicity and my wife is getting 20 mpg out of it overall easy. It tows well but next time I'll go Ecoboost. The colour she wanted, plus the options, were on a V8 truck and the fake V8 sounds were too corny for me to bite on the 3.5 L Ecoboost this go around.

Don't worry about any haters here. I do some operations work for my company at the location I work out and that Ford will treat you well.

Looking at the Ford F 150 and a new Tacoma Both nice trucks. Fords quality is great maybe pushing Toyota off the top of the pile, My 2002 F250 7.3 has out performed in reliability my 84 truck, 92 truck and 2006 Tacoma. I have my dads 96 basic 4 cyl auto trans and which has been flawless, from day 1

One can never have too many light bars.
Post Recession Ford has definitely impressed me with their cars and trucks across the board. I think they are by far the best of Detroit's big three. Who knows maybe in a decade we will refer to Ford as the benchmark of reliability like Toyota is today. I'm definitely curious to see how all the ecoboost motors do after 10 years and 200,000 miles on them.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Ford F-150 ownership considerations --> My thoughts

    Downsides...

Aluminum Body: Isn't the 2015 Ford F-150 the one with an aluminum body? Don't get into an accident... Only a few places can fix those right now and prices for simple body replacement panels can reach $17k. It's all over the Internet about the specially equipment a body shop would need.

Turbo V6: Also, that new tiny high compression 2.7 V6 Ecoboost motor Ford uses to get that good mileage uses a turbo and those motors historically will require more expensive maintenance over their lifetime then a naturally aspirated motor. And the stated mileage figures from Ford are much lower then the OP is getting (albeit the OP has only run a single tank) with a combined MPG for the 4WD of 17mpg: http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/engine/ Of course this engine has the auto start/stop feature so using that might improve MPG somewhat?

Weak Frame? This is unconfirmed and I just have my "gut feeling" the new frame materials and production may have some issues. Most of these suspicions come from the upcoming F150 Raptor that uses a different and steel frame. But time will tell.

Resale. Ford has nowhere near the resale as Toyota. The Tundra has the best resale value for 2015 of all full-size trucks (Kelly Blue Book) looking at percentage of value lost in resale compared to purchase price.

    Upsides...

The F150 has a nicely done interior. So comfortable, I always feel like I'm in a luxury car or a minivan.

Great electronics. These trucks are full of electronic gadgets and sensors and programming. Very impressive.

Towing. They have always been known as capable towing rigs.

The new 10 speed transmission they will offer in 2016 (on the 2017 model) looks impressive, and is reported to improve MPG another 20%.

The new F-150 Raptor for 2016 (2017 model) looks great for a desert runner and is basically the equivalent to what Jeep offers their Wrangler lineup with the Rubicon. It's got great specs for off road capability - for a price.

Glad I am not the only one feeling this way. I, too, am now looking hard at a Ford F150 XLT supercab. Except mine will be oxford white with light camel interior. (which is beige....CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW, TOYOTA?)

Will post pics when I get one. Thanks for all the valuable advice I gained on this forum, and wish you all the best with your Tacomas. I really did want one bad.

    8/28/15

Picked up my 2015 white prerunner sr5 v6 with beige interior today. Will post pics later and move back to the 2nd Gen forum.
