Okay.... So in the modern schooling system schools get funding based off of test scores. A lot of schools are losing funding because they are not meeting school test score requirements set forth by the department of education. So instead of learning anymore a lot of kids are being shoved through school to bolster graduation rates to make up for lack of test scores.

This thread delivers like a motherfucker.

What's the big deal. Lots of HS drop outs work for me. I let them know that I'm grateful for their hard work and that I rarely see other toilets shine like that.... :D

I know one semi successful HS dropout. He was quite smart, and bored with school. He took his GED and passed, THEN dropped out late soph year.

Worked manual labor jobs for a few years, then learned the locksmith trade. Now has his own business, security, safes, high tech subdivision gates, etc. Not rich, but doing ok. OTOH, it's taken 20 years to get to this state. But he's happy and has a future.

Another HS dropout I know was a top drawer welder. But couldn't stay sober long enough to hold a good job more than a year or two. He is now 43, drives a honey dipper (septic pumper), has nothing but a car his mom paid for, no credit and a pile of debt.

So a few tips if you're going to be a drop out.

    0) Stop bragging about it. It's not heroic. It's not the gateway to freedom. Yes, this point is labled a zero. Because you'll be one if you don't get after the next 4 points. Starting now.

    1) Get the GED. The piece of paper WILL matter.

    2) Learn a trade. A good one.

    3) Be willing to work your buns off.

    4) Make your life expectations reasonable, achieve them and enjoy life.

BTW, just because you are one, you don't have to act or perform like one. For example, get your reading, writing and speaking skills up to snuff (or college level) and it will go a long way for you in social interaction with those who can help your future. (I would suggest the same for basic math skills, including Algebra I level work. All trades use at least that level once you are above digging the ditch)

For example, "hi scool drop out roll call!!!" as your title should be 'high school dropout roll call!!!'

Little stuff like that makes a huge difference on an application, resume, cover letter, etc.
