I was running late to work today because i was stuck in traffic. Granted I work at Babies R US which is on Route 46 in Totowa NJ. Anyways, when i got to work i got hell for being late, and hell for not punching in on time all from the same manager, I got a write up to. This manager absolutely hates me because I run the furniture dept. Anyways, later on a bunch of us went on break and we're all talking about our cars and trucks.
The manager that hates me has overheard pleanty of times that I have a Taco and how much I love my truck, and everytimes mutters "Toyota Trucks Suck", mind you a few weeks ago he also dissed my Taco because i'm slowly doing the body work to my truck and it doesn't have paint in some areas he says "Tacoma's cant even hold up with the paint" "This kids a dumbass for buying a Taco, what a terrible truck, same with the work he does" (language cleaned up). He asked me today if I can help him move stuff from his house to his new house.

This guy really thinks I'm going to help him move, after he called my Taco every name in the book. I looked at him seriously and said: "Your a Funny guy"

I go by one thing at work: You can put me down and I won't mind it, if you put my Taco down I'll put you down.

    Haha what an A**HOLE!!!

My managers are MOPAR and Chevy people but at least they are civilized. Although One manager says that Toyota is crap. HAHA YEAH RIGHT!!!!

I guess being that I work at autozone, they have to realize that Toyota cars have the least amount of people coming in for parts. Except for normal maintenance of course. :D

You know what I'd do? I'd do it, on my own terms. Tell him something like

'yeah I'll do it, but stop giving me crap about the truck and let's clear up this sh1t between you and I'. Doesn't hurt to try and make amends with your boss. It may be tempting to tell him to get lost, but in my experience if you take the high road others will follow.

True.. Were both managers tho. The only thing is he's one level above me. I'm just the manager of the Furniture Dept, while he's the Asst. Manager for the store. But, he's just pissed cause it took him a year and a half to be a manager and it took me 2 months to become a manager of the furniture dept.

yes, take the high road and help the guy out. after all you are a dead ringer for hearing the "dude, you gotta help me move" pitch. i mean you own a truck and work around furniture all day anyways.
 always plan an exit route though-just in case he continues to be an ass. like loading up the most expensive/cherished item he has to move (tv's work well) at the very back of the truck, forget to close the tailgate, neglect to tie it down, and take off like a bat out of hell. with any luck the items closest to the end of the bed will begin cartwheeling down the road. just be sure to not bust out laughing immediately, and practice your "i'm sorry speech" ahead of time.

I'm usually about being the bigger guy and taking the high road, but I wouldn't lift a finger to help this douche outside of work. I wouldn't be a complete ass about it or anything, but I'd tell him no and wouldn't give it a second thought. Moving sucks, and I only do it when I'm moving myself, or when a good friend needs help. I don't go through that crap for jacka**es at work.

IMO, the 'high road' in this case is telling him no w/o calling him every name in the book.

2 Letters HR. They should be able to help you with this problem, but you need to do it quickly before the guy files more claims against you. This is harassment.

I'm all about helping folks who are civil and likely to give you a hand if you ask for. This guy sounds like a dick.

Just tell him you are worried that his household goods might not stay in your truck either....Might just fall thru the bed or something...since it "can't hold paint"

    Let him chew on that...

How late were you to work?

The store manager sounds like a poophole. I think he does what he does because you are only 19. He knows he is your manager and that he can do whatever he pleases with his employees. He yells at you for being late, if it has been more than once, than I understand why he would talk to you about being late. He talks down about your Tacoma and he expects you and your truck to move him. Everything you do wrong, I am sure he is going to take it and blow it up. If his actions persist, IMO I would look far a different job.

Good luck with your situation. Hopefully your manger can tone it down a bit.

I was only late by 5min. Most of the time i'm early by 10min. I do see your point with me being 19 and him being close to 30yrs old..
