Waited for a 2016 Tacoma.. bought a F-150 instead

I'd buy a 15 ecoboost 3.5 f150 over any 2005-2016 tacoma

 

Well I guess you can pay now for a Tacoma or later for a Ford. I think Ford builds a pretty good truck with a Super Duty but there is no way I would want to work on one once they get some miles on them. Seen the latest tools needed to replace the Ford spark plugs?

Which engine and which year?

 

One thing that is super underrated on a Tacoma when compared to other trucks is how easy it is to repair. I have very limited automotive knowledge and Just by following some guides and pictures on this site and using basic tools, I can preform every recommended service besides an alignment and transmission flush. Thats not the case in most cars and trucks these days.

I used to work in the service garage at a ford/chrysler dealership. I really dig em. Hated working on chrysler products, the ford's were nice though. And I went into the job disliking ford and chrysler but I like ford now.

 

To OP I like the new F150 but I'd get the DC instead of the access cab. If you're going full size... do it right and that includes getting the better Ecoboost engine (3.5L) Overall a good choice of a truck. Let's see how it is long term for reliability

 

I agree, I HATE working on any Chrysler product. I swear they have the worst engineering and design out of all the big 2.5

Congrats. I had a F150. Treated me well then decided I didn't need a full size but it got about 12MPG! I like the Tacoma for 3 reasons. 1. It fits easily in the garage and I can still get by the front to the W/D. 2. I do some urban driving and maneuvering and parking make it work for me. 3. Offroading in tight areas where full size trucks don't fit. Otherwise I'd have one of those and still may down the road when I trade our pop up camper for a TT. Waiting to get real MPG #'s. I would love to get the 2016 Raptor when I win the lottery! Nice truck though OP. Enjoy

 

For what a limited? Around here they are discounting F150s $10 - $12k

 

Divide the R&D cost by number of vehicles sold for Tundra vs. F150 and that will tell you why Ford can change every 5 years. Costs to engineer a new vehicle are huge.

 

Exactly. It always comes down to the simple saying "It takes money to make money." I'm sure Toyota has done a cost benefit analysis on this many times.

 

Excellent choice OP! Guys mentioning about rust, cost, mpg, crash test, resale etc etc, My Tacoma drove like a tank, uncomfortable, piss poor mpg, payload- well, golf clubs made my bed sag and 13k my truck had frame rust! Nuff said! As far as resale, I do believe Tundra beat out Ford by maybe 4% higher, and with the new aluminum body resale should go up. 2015 with every option, 3.73 rear end with locker, 33's and 2.5 levelling kit, still cheaper then my Tacoma.... "Haters gonna hate hate hate"...

 

I wouldn't mind fooling around with an Ecoboost turbo myself, but glad I went Tacoma.

 

Ford dealers here have the XL's and XLT's 4WD Super Crews for under $32K.
