Apple will also likely release a small stylish dongle to make the iPhone Qi compatible for only $99.95. :D

My damn Z3 needs a $90 case for Qi charging. It's a great phone though and I'm not getting the 2016 so I'll deal with it.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I've had both android and apple devices over the years and much prefer apple. I'm glad there are options for me to be able to take advantage of the Qi feature in my new truck.

Does anyone know if you will need a special case to charge your iPhone with the Qi wireless charging system or if it will charge through a regular case like an otter box?

You need something like this to charge an iphone with Qi. It will work through a case (ie: the adapter plugs into your lightning port, and tucks underneath the case along the back of the phone).

That's really cool...although I could see it becoming a pain in the butt when I want to charge my phone inside and then have to unplug it from the port. But something to think about. Thanks.

Hopefully but not likely the next iPhone will have that capability built in. You can always buy a case and unplug it to charge it at home. Or buy a wireless charger for home.

It's far from a gimmick. It's an amazing convenience.

Anyone know if the Qi standard Toyota is going to use is the old 5 watt or the newer 15 watt extension (WPC released in June)?

I'm asking them if they know how wireless charging actually works. I already know. I assume most don't and think their phone will certainly charge wirelessly without any modifications

A coil in the charging pad creates a field above the pad and creates a current in another coil in the back of the phone which is then sent to the battery. I am missing details but I can tell it is lossy since my phone gets hot when it has been sitting on my charge dock for a while. I have broken enough micro USB cables to not care.

The Sport does have a grey grill. Something about texture makes it look chrome in a lot of the pictures. The only chrome on the TRD grilles is the outer rim and the Toyota Emblem. Everything else is grey. There was a MGM 2016 TRD posted recently where the grey was very apparent.
