Looks like the flakes don't match and blend to me. Need some better pictures with no shadows. Maybe a picture of the side as a whole.

When I had the PDR push the door ding out I asked their opinion. They said to properly match the paint the paint should have been blended with the surrounding body panels, however they said if you are not completely replacing said panel (ie just a repair) that insurance will not pay to blend the paint. I think I might drive this by my insurance agent's place in my day off.

<----Several years of body work experience.

They didn't blend the panels. Even if they did, it looks like the painter made a bad mix because it really is a different hue. You gotta remember the dude that is painting it is punching in a code into a computer and mixing different amounts of paints and flake to get the color. If you are lucky they have a computer that dispenses the different colors to be mixed.

It's insurance trying to be cheap. Round one - FIGHT!

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Definitely does not match! I'm not a painter, but I do have a couple of friends that are, and silver/gray colors and pearls are the hardest to match. Hopefully the body shop will be stand up and redo it.

It was hard to see it in the first set of pictures but I agree now. It would bother me as well. I'd swing by or give them a call and speak with them about it to see what can be done. I don't think it'll ever be factory grade, but that's pretty obvious to me.

P.S. get the most powerful f/n LED flashlight you can find. Clean an area on each panel and shine that light on it. If it is bright enough (think sunbeam lamp) it will really show the difference.

This would be the third trip back. It's going to a different shop, I may have to let the insurance company pick another. But it's not going back to that one.

Is that, "doubt it was blended" or, "doubt it is blendible?"

I don't think it matches either. I bet in person it's really noticeable.

I've worked in a number of body shops, from high end where we worked on nothing less then EU exotics to Maaco. Although I did not work as a labourer in any of the shops, one of my jobs was to ensure paint match and quality of workmanship. No that wasn't my role at Maaco. lol. All that said it's pretty hard to exactly match a freshly painted panel to an adjacent panel, especially if the vehicle is a couple of years old, not the case with you OP since you're driving a 215. Still though blending is required in almost ALL applications. Unfortunately I see this kind of thing all the time. Bumpers are a little different and I've seen brand new cars on the lot where the bumpers don't match the panels.

As TjOhn stated, it's not even the same hue. What a hassle, good luck.

As everyone has mentioned defintely more noticeable in these photos. Looks like a butt match but that is a colour that obviously isn't good enought for it. I'm not sure how your guys' insurance works down there, but if I asked to blend the door because there was damage to the Rear of the fender they would approve it. But my question is this, why did it get painted the first time? Perhaps there was room to blend within from the front to begin with, but after you returned it for the antenna problem they had to paint it to the back. If thats the case it would be the shops responsibility to blend the door, not the insurance company

When my wife's car had door damage and needed to be repaired, the first thing I noticed was that it looked liked they painted the whole side. Not knowing or even thinking about blending the paint before I read this post. That's exactly what they must of done. Can't even tell is was fixed or painted.

If it was a good job you shouldn't be able to tell at all.

So. The insurance agent saw the truck. He certainly wouldn't agree or disagree at the poor matching. He said he would get a manager-level adjuster to review the repair and make a call. He also was sure to tell me "he could make any promises."

To me that sounds like he sees a problem but isn't authorized to give the go ahead. If he didn't see anything wrong he most likely would have argued the issue

It's official, wife agrees, it don't match. Take it back and hold your breath until they fix it... On second thought, maybe not. Good luck getting it fixed.
