Did a little more wiring on mine, added a 10" light bar behind the grille and wired it up to my second relay. It's a challenge to think ahead how you want to run the wires. I'm trying to keep them as neat and uniform as possible.

You need to size the wire for the total amp draw you're planning on running. Add up the amp draw of each of your accessories, and future accessories, and then consult a wire gauge diagram for the appropriate sized wire.

Your winch will be wired directly to the battery, so don't count that in your calculations.

Welding supply shops will have zero gauge, Amazon will have all other gauges, or your local electronics store.

    Sub'd.

As I'm adding more to my Taco (i.e. getting ready to install a AOB switch for a backup camera, possible future stereo amp, bed lights, etc...) it seems to make sense to go ahead and install one of these first so I can keep the wiring clean and organized. Would you all agree? Any enablers out there willing to encourage me to spend more money?!

    I'll play. :D

If you're going to start adding switches and want to keep things clean this might be the solution you're looking for.

If you plan to add accessories, an auxiliary fuse box is the ONLY way to go! I'm so glad I did it. It's so clean and organized and easy to wire.

The alternative is either a crap load of ring connectors sandwiched onto the battery positive terminal with a bunch of ugly and bulky inline fuse holders or fuse taps all over the place or splicing the oem harness. None are good options in my opinion.

An aux box is the cleanest, easiest and safest way to add electronic accessories to your vehicle. I love my Blue Sea 5026!

I used 4 gauge battery cables that I got at the auto parts store and then bought the ends from Ace Hardware. After attaching the ends I used heat shrink to secure them a bit better.

Yep, pretty much decided to do it. I'm on the group buy list for the complete box kit, we'll see how much it turns out to be. If it's too much I'll assemble my own from ordered parts.

I wish I had done this for my Camaro... I used a number of ring connectors on my horn bus bar when I installed my gauges and trunk lid popper. The guys who installed my stereo and alarm just hacked into my Painless quick disconnect connector from my gauges. It's a freaking mess under there and I dread trying to straighten it out. Hence, doing the taco myself (as much as possible) and keeping it clean.

It's not too hard, you just have to think ahead a bit and take your time. I'm the master at forgetting to slide on a piece of shrink tube before crimping something together. :bananadead:

Just trying to rush for no reason, ya know... it pays to go slowly, at least for my inexperienced self.
