Ordered/paid for mine yesterday! I had my reservation in early July. I don't mind doing a review on it. I got a roadie and the 65.

 

I will be doing a thorough review on my Grizzly coming soon, I am just trying to use it more and get enough testing to give an honest review on it.

 

Have a yeti on the back of my work truck for three summers now .... It's heavy, the drain plug condensates, its hard to open(vacuums shut), but it's lasted 3 years on the back of a truck and job sites. One tuff cooler!

See my boss has a 65 that vacuums shut like that, but neither my 65 or Roadie have ever done that to me. But his is a couple years older than mine, I wonder if they updated the seal or something?

 

Definitely not an issue on the new ones...

 

I've got both yeti and pelican. Side by side they perform the same I just like the build quality of pelican better. For the 20qt I would go with the yeti roadie but anything bigger I'd go with pelican for the price. If you lived in Austin they have a scratch and dent inventory at there warehouse if you walk in, but that's the only way to get one 30% off.

I have a Yeti roadie and I don't think it's worth the $$. I filled it with 12 cold beers and 7 lbs of ice on Thursday, put it in the truck under the tonneau and didn't open it for two days. On Saturday morning (48 hrs later) there was no ice and the beers were maybe 60 degrees. Too warm to be enjoyable. The Yeti was room temp to start.

It's still a rugged cooler that will last forever (though it actually doesn't hold up to puppy teeth very well and has been gnawed on pretty heavily) but you're not buying extended ice retention with the roadie. You're paying for the forever-tough build. That may or may not be worth it to you. The larger sizes let you add a lot more cold mass and are more efficient. I'll probably buy a 75 qt Orca at some point this fall. I like the green color Orca offers.

 

That's why I wanted the Hopper, more practical for its intended purpose (Usually hauling some beer to the beach, on a kayak, etc). I only really need it to stay cold for the day and it will be much easier to tote around.

 

Let us know what you think about the hopper. I didn't like the zipper but it might loosen up with use. Probably just as good as the Roadie for day trips.

 

My newer yetis have a piece of sticky felt like meaterial on the back portion of the seal by hinges. It has never had a vacuum issue. My friends older yeti does not have it thoughthough.

 

I have been using the Grizzly under the Tonneau also and have noticed that it doesn't hold ice as long as when it is just out in the sun. With the Tonneau closed it gets super hot like an oven in the bed. I was checking this out yesterday while I was fishing and I bet it gets 25-30+ degrees warmer under the tonneau than open.
