Ha ha, this too funny. I KNEW the twins were shitty trucks. Wouldn't buy one if it was the only truck on the market. Ha, and the loaners they get are equally horrible.

That would be killer...I know Ford thinks it will cut into F150 sales...I would think cutting into Tacoma sales would have them looking beyond that.

Maybe. Even if they do, they will at least make an attempt to keep their trucks in the ball park of positive change. Look at the new Tacoma, it is very clear to me they responded to the GM twins. Most of the changes address what GM was touting on their Colorado/Canyon advances. Competition makes all involved better.

 

IMO the truly reputable reviews are from the few publications that buy their own vehicles to review and assess. Otherwise to me its a conflict of interest.

I am not seeing it...it is a luke warm redo...with a very bad face lift. It is like an aging actor...the first few nips and tucks kept a few people fooled, this last one was...like....what the hell did you do to your face!?




They could of gotten similar numbers engine-wise by just dropping in the 4.0 out of the 4Runner.

 

Nope, not sketchy at all. Recently retired from the Army, I'm looking to move back to California and do extensive off road camping/surfing in Mexico and Central America, as well as travel on and off road in the US. I've owned two Toyota trucks in my life ('80 and '08) and loved them both. Was leaning towards the Tundra DC, but since this will be my daily driver when I'm not overlanding, I was concerned about the crappy gas mileage, so I started listening in on the Tacoma forums to hear what other people thought about the 2016. There are a few who dominate these forums, and most of their comments are about how superior the GM twins are to the Tacoma. When the embargo was lifted yesterday, and I could read all the full specs and reviews, I was surprised that that drum beat had not stopped despite (what I considered to be) good reviews of the new Tacoma, so I went to check out what GM owners are saying.

People are welcome to buy what they want, but after reading about multiple recalls and serious issues from owners of GM trucks, I will cross that one off my list of potentials. Still want to look into the Ford F150, but I will admit to a Toyota bias, since every Toyota that I or my extended family has owned has been a rock solid vehicle. I think the new Tacoma is exactly what I am looking for, particularly since they now offer a TRD OR DCLB 4x4, but will keep an open mind as real user reviews of the new model year start to come out.

 

No different than the people on here talking about the rentals they have while their truck sits at a dealership for months waiting for a new frame.

 

Yes, I admit it. I'm a mole that joined in 2009 and paid by GM and Ford to trash the Tacoma......

I hate to make this personal but you have less than 10 posts dude, big fail there.

 

In the end, we could all travel to different forums and pull the worst from each. Tacoma rust and frame recalls. GM twins - Transmission software issues, Frontier- 4.0 engine chain tension, Early Ridgeline engine problems. They all have problems here and there.

So, now that I've got that out of the way bro, since when does your length of time sitting at your computer make you more or less qualified to make a comment? Yeah, I'm a FNG to these forums, but the sad fact is that on every thread I have read over the last few months trying to research the new Tacoma, there are 3-4 people that tend to post the same comments bashing the Tacoma over and over again. I wasn't talking about you, but I must have hit a nerve. We get it - you're not satisfied with what Toyota has done with the new Tacoma. You can stop telling us now. My recommendation is to keep your old one, or buy whatever turbo diesel with disc brakes and a cool looking grill you want, but let it go. It's not healthy to keep so much angst inside.

 

Just another gimmick that increases the price. I have no need for either one.

 

And for God's sake it better have power seats!

 

I've honestly never understood the fascination with power seats. I mean, I LOVE power seats in a rental car but in a car that's exclusively MINE I don't really need it. I set the seat to the proper position and then I leave it that way....I'd hate to think I'm spending money on something I'm realistically only going to use maybe once a year. But for those who share their truck with the wife quite often (or a similar situation) I might could understand it.

During the school year my wife and I carpool, and we alternate weekly between the Camry (power seats) and the Tacoma. And to be honest, the worst part of the whole deal is the power seats in the Camry (first world problems) are so slow to move back and forth. It's just so much easier to click forward or back in two seconds in the truck than to wait for the motor to inch you forward or back in the car.

 

Not sure but its confirmed that GM will offer Diesel in fleet sales, so I can not see them pricing this truck super high. I don't need any new Electronic toys in my truck so base is fine with me. If you look on what they wrote Diesel option will bump up from WT.
I thinking If it is WT + $3000 for diesel that will leave a lot of room for making upgrades.
