IIRC 285/65/r18 is as big as you can go before you risk rubbing the UCA or plastic somewhere. You can go bigger, but be prepared to buy new UCA's and trim some plastic to fit the tire. If you go much bigger than 33" outer diameter you might have to chop the body mount as well.

I had 285/65/18 tires on my truck a month ago. Also had a 3" lift and they rubbed at full turn so I agree that's the biggest you should go.

In general, 32" 285 tires fit 3" lift no problem with minor trimming. Any bigger than that and real major rubbing can occur. Every truck is a bit different based on offset and alignment though, so sometimes a truck is fine with 33" but most of the time the tires rub. What sucks is when they rub the UCA's which means spacers or new UCA's.

You won't get much more tire under a 3" lift. Especially with the stock UCA's.

We fit 3" and 285's on stock upper control arms without issue.

I rub 255's on my uca's. Seems like every truck is a bit different based on alignment.

Rubbing on UCAs is mostly dependent upon wheel back spacing. If your wheels have around 4.5" back spacing you don't need to worry about 285s rubbing the stock UCAs. With a 3 inch lift 285s will probably rub on the splash guard plastic that sits behind the front bumper, and possibly some rub on the fender near your front door. Not a problem if you are willing to trim some stuff. That would be the route I'd go if I were you. the look is worth the small amount of trimming

Correct, wheel spacing is what is causing you rubbing, especially with 255's, that's a skinny tire. I have 4.75 BS and 285's and don't rub.

Yes, spacers did fix my issues. It does have to do with back spacings but I've seen people with the same rims run 33" skinnies with no rubbing. I didn't know OP's back spacing so I was talking in generalities.

Understand, But on stock TRD sports, we can run 285's without issue, the Xspy wheels, we have to run spacers for them to fit.

I'm running stock TRD Sport rims. I rubbed 255's on the UCA's. There are pictures in my media. There is a whole thread about this. Seems like no two people have exactly the same experience with each tire size or brand. I ended up putting 1/4" spacers on my truck to fix the issue but next year I'll be buying UCA's if I have the money.
