I wont lie out of the socket wrenches Kermit seemed to have had the most predominate ratcheting.

It seems like most of you guys are leaning towards the wrenches over the sockets.

I'd go wrenches. I despise flex head ratchets, actually busted my knuckles a few good times using one this weekend. Always feel like I'm fighting a fish trying to get a bolt in/out. If they made them with some kind of head lock system (put it at the angle you need and lock it down) I'd grab a few, but until then I'm staying away unless I really really need to use one and thankfully that is hardly ever.

Snap-on makes locking flex head ratchets, but at a much higher price point than Harbor Freight, for sure. I wouldn't want to be without mine.

Without a flexhead and many sets of open ended and combination spanners I don't know how I would have accomplished any of the work I've done on just about anything ever...

Buy all of them and return as many as you find to be useless. Or, just drop some extra money on a brand that offers lifetime replacement for any reason.

Also, post pics of all the stuff you do with your new tools, we want to see what stuff you end up getting and the projects you do with said stuffs!

Warranty works too. I had a 1/2" torque wrench quit on me after 3-years of good service. Replaced in 10 minutes with a new one, at no cost to myself.

Me too, and didn't think I did either.

But I found it invaluable to adjust the CAS on '94-'97 1.8 Miatas. Being able to use that 12mm deep socket on the locking nut, between the CAS and firewall, on a hot motor, was a valuable tool.

To the OP. There are tools for almost every purpose. Almost every vehicle I've owned long enough to do more than change the oil on had certain tasks made easier with a little used too.

You can buy them when you need them, or have a few 'good guesses' on hand.

I would go ahead and spend 10 bucks and just get them all.

Ughh I have to change pronunciation and word usage all the F-ing time to appease the American masses:rofl:

Srsly being raised by a Scottish father and a European mother I got fucked for conversing with people here. Picture me working as a bartender or server and offering people "Tomato" or "Basil" or mentioning my "garage" or "schedule" to friends.. I just switch between shit on the fly depending on whom I happen to be having a conversation with. So much easier that way:rolleyes:

You should see the look on a person's face when I forget myself and say some shit like: "samwidge" ummmm... did you just try to say sandwich and utterly FAIL?o_O

    :anonymous:no...

I bought a set of flex-head ratchet wrenches on sale. I am surprised how seldom they actually come in handy. More often than not, the wrenches just aren't long enough to break the fastener loose.

Out of all these tools, the only one I would get is the long-handle 3/8" ratchet.

I agree, just spend the damn 10 bucks, and get it over with. Never buy Harbor Freight, unless you're intending on breaking the tool.

I've never broken any hand tool from Harbor Freight, Walmart or even the dollar store. Except screwdrivers, where the tip gets rounded easily on the cheap ones.

Yeah I don't mind using cheap walmart tools for most applications. It's nice to have a set of screwdrivers so cheap that you don't mind using them as chisels pry-bars punches etc.

I have actually bought a tool ( spray gun ) at HF and used it once and then sold it on eBay for more than I paid for it.

No need to appease me. I am just a run of the mill mongrel heathen bastard... I work for a German Company and they also use the term Spanner and many others...
