bought from said dealership 6 times. Also had many things replaced there. Dishonest to their manuf or not, they did good work. Their honesty to their superior is not my problem.

    FTFY :p

Im just saying if I made a change that knowingly should void a warranty, I would be honest about it :notsure: I was taught a man is just as good as his honesty.

But back on topic, if the Trifecta tune starts contributing to failures (similar to how tunes were causing failures on the 5.0 mustang), Chevy will start cracking down on dealers to void warranties. Could be a lot of pissed of customer's with blown trans/engines and no warranty. Again, similar to a lot of 5.0 owners, one I knew personally.

Your still insulting people, but it's too ass backwards of an area to care lol.

It's like how there are area's of Alabama that call people of a different color by another name. It doesn't make it right when it's used as an insult.

No one is holding you to a cross but people come on here for advice and information before buying. Stating things like aftermarket tuning being fine for warranty purposes isn't good information or advice.

A lot of dealers get paid in credit from GM/Toyota/etc towards parts for off warranty vehicles. For dealerships that do a lot of warranty work they don't want to shell out the time for more credit than they can use in the next month. Hence they deny warranty on things that they easily can.

I've modded my vehicle. I'll be honest that if I go into the dealer for warranty work on the engine I'd roll my intake and exhaust back to stock before they see it. It's just being smarter than the dealer. Who cares if it's honest or not. It doesn't hurt poor old Toyota in any way considering the billions they have in the bank.

I have definitely thought about that! I don't fully trust the GM to go the distance that I am used to getting out of vehicles.

This is really speaking to me.

All I know is what they told me that Diesel in Colorado makes it LT package so yeah you can't have WT package with Diesel , considering Chevy will have incentive that Diesel still will be around $30k to take home. For a ability to own diesel midsize, that's a cheap change. Dropping diesel to Tacoma and making legal costs $20k in addition to price of the truck....

I wouldn't count on a $5K discount on the Colorado. I've seen a few threads where people managed to get close to $3K back. The margins on the Colorado are tighter and GM doesn't seem to have to work hard to move them which is keeping that price, and resale, fairly high.

So funny story, I just signed some insurance paperwork with my broker before lunch. She bought a Colorado 2 months ago. She is ready to begin lemon law proceedings against GM. Her hood flutters so badly in the wind, no matter how she adjusts it, that she is scared to take the truck on the highway. GM quality right there.

Yep. Four Wheel Camper, be perfect for exploring the back roads of Idaho and the rest of the West.

They do make them in mid-size truck size, but I don't know how those guys are staying under payload. Even with my fuzzy math I can't make it work...with the camper water tank full and just the two of us, we are right at the Tacoma's payload...and I haven't even put any supplies in it yet.... I should probably should quit worrying about mpg, and do what Sterdog suggests, buy an old F250 with a 7.3...I could get that and the camper for the price of a diesel Colorado. Then buy a Subaru Forester for my run around vehicle. Kinda funny....the wife is putting up a fight not to get the Suby, I would probably be pretty happy with it. 30 mpg, manual trans...cheap to maintain and own.

its a known issue from what i've read. No fix out but its quite common from a certain factory and build date.

Probably no different than the jeep hood flutter with a semi passing.

Her's is bad enough that it's wearing the paint on the hood where it contacts the bumpers. I thought it was funny considering this conversation. I was sitting there with her and I thought, "hey, why not ask about her Colorado." I expected maybe a transmission or window related complaint, but not that she thought the hood would fall off . How does that not get caught in the factory? Not only that, the dealer has seen it several times and doesn't have a fix...

im guessing the same reason my driveline clunks every 3 months.

Manuf. DGAF and its not a safety hazzard. Terrible and an oversight, yes.

So losing the hood on the highway into the windshield would not be a safety hazard? Sever hood flutter weakens the link between the hood latch and the catch. Once it's weak enough, your hood flies up and covers the windshield. Then you can't see the road in front of you. That doesn't end well at high speeds.

I get it that every manufacturer has it's problems. Toyota driveline vibes suck and luckily I don't have them. The hood issue sounds like a bad joke though.

then why arent you an engineer for GM?

seems you know far more than they.

Jeeps have done it for years, dont see them in the news for hood related deaths.

I don't miss that hood flutter on the jeep but the rubber outside latching design that wranglers have is the reason behind it.
