Good Job! We had a similar deal when I helped my brother buy his truck. Shook hands on a deal then just like you they started backpedaling! We didn't leave till it was the sales mgr and the finance guy only left in the place except for the cleaning crew. We wouldn't leave and they finally gave in to the deal we agreed on. Most people wont hold their ground and give up at some point. Then you just lost about 2-3 grand at least! I must add though the last couple of vehicles I bought or helped with it was all done online. If your buying a new vehicle and know exactly what you want its sooo much nicer to do it that way. After all the local dealers fight for your bus you print out the best offer and go pick it up

I waited a long time for the 3rd gen and was dissapointed. Bought a Frontier Pro-4x 6spd, very happy with it.

    Waited for a 2016 Tacoma.. buying a 2015 instead

I gave my '96 SR5 to my son in May (I had it 15 years). Since last spring I've read this forum almost every day and geared up to get a '16 Tacoma. But now that the real numbers are out (MPG, price, HP etc.) I'm going to get a '15. I was disappointed in the MPG (I didn't expect the moon, but definitely a bigger improvement). And although I was OK with it, like many people the front of the '16 just doesn't do it for me. Yes, I saw it in person at a car show. All in all a lot of the little things that were going to be positives turned out to be neutral, or negative. And they all add up.

When I was in buy a '16 mode, I would try to overlook the negatives, and hope for some really good positives (like 25-ish MPG). Exterior doesn't look as good as a '15, but the interior is better... There is a lot of "new" that could go wrong (engine, transmission), but it will be OK.... I don't really want all the collision sensors, but I guess I'll take them... etc. etc. I've been set on a '16 for months.

But now that all the cards are on the table, I'm going with a '15. I see some DCSB ORs on the web in my area for $3K off MSRP (that is before you even talk to someone and try to negotiate). For the money, a '15 is a better buy for me.

I hope the '16 turns out to be trouble free and everyone who gets the truck loves it.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems to be going backwards a bit there. Not that the Frontier isn't a nice vehicle if you like it, but it's interior seems even more dated then the Tacoma's and the performance is worse...

Plus you can get the Frontier cheap. I owned a Juke before the Tacoma so I figured I'd give the Frontier a try before trading up. When I test drove the Pro-4x I didn't like it and told the sales guy I was going with the Tacoma. The first words from his mouth were "we can price this a few K under a TRD Sport." That was the point when I knew the truck was garbage and they weren't moving many. Who sewers the price at the first hint of competition rather than upsell the truck if the product is good?

BTW in Canada there are no new TRD OR DC in any configuration, so the closest comparable to the Pro-4X is the Sport here.

This. It was sad to see. Just looking at the Nissan site in Canada they are throwing out discounts ($1000 cash back free) and cheap financing (72 months 0%) on the Frontier. It kind of shows the lack of confidence they have in their product considering Nissan isn't a discounting MSRP type of company.

I never liked the Frontier until I drove one. My previous trucks were all Toyota 4x4s. Really liking the VQ40DE and 6spd, the interior is dated but still nice, quiet and comfortable. I really don't miss my Tacoma.

That trucks is like a year old haha. I'm guessing they'll see how the Titan with the diesel sells, and if people buy it, they'll put one in the frontier. But they should also be working on a redesigned frontier since it's just as old as the 2nd gen tacomas.

maybe they'll just put a new front clip on and tidy up the interior and call it a day for another 10 years.

    They very well could lol.

Sorry, I've seen the test truck before but the way they word that article sounds like it's going into production. The other times I've seen the truck mentioned it was much like when Toyota threw the Cummins in the Tundra, just a test.

TBH I'd drive a Diesel Frontier Pro-4X if they had the interior from the Murano and a quiet version of the Cummins underneath. I trust Nissan over GM, not to mention I've bought a Nissan before and it was okay. Nissan throws out lots of good deals too on financing and I have an in with their fleet manager so I could pull off a deal that could work out. I would only drive that Diesel if it was barely noticeable under the hood like most modern Diesels. That's the only problem with some of the small Cummins engines. In box trucks they end up being loud as fudge after only a few K.

I don't see why the D23 Navara won't show up on the North American market with a V6. The D40 Frontier is the last Nissan using that chassis and engine. The Nissan truck has been a global product for a long time so its only logical. Very nice looking truck either way.

I don't blame you. I have always been a fan of Ford. I have owned 2 Rangers and 2 Mustangs. I almost bought another Mustang earlier this year. Good thing I didn't because I wound up buying my wife a Corolla instead last weekend. Ford never built a mid-sized four door truck and when I got divorced 9 years ago, I needed something bigger. My Ranger got replaced with a Colorado because I couldn't afford a Tacoma and I had a huge supplier discount on Chevrolets. This year, I bought a Tacoma instead of an F150 because I don't like big vehicles. I rarely drive my Tahoe. I only bought it for hauling kids and my boat or camper around plus it gets terrible fuel mileage.

In this video of test driving the prototype it sounds pretty damn loud outside of the truck but when inside it seems pretty quite after he raises up the window.
