Auto mechanics? You wouldn't last a day where I've been before. But that's besides the point, why are you bringing up auto mechanic abilities?

Toyota doesn't have have rear disc brakes because they're cheaping out, that's all there is to it.

It is important to me. Not top priority but important. Thanks for the buying advice but I actually do prefer a Toyota and will probably get a late model 2nd gen. The 2.5 gen will get disc brakes soon enough. Just wait.

Some aftermarket shit? In the Supra community the preferable setup even for the high HP guys is the USDM big brake kit found only on the 6-speed Supra. OEM only, I want Toyota to make my brakes not some loser shop.

Just because some weak aftermarket kit is bad doesn't mean Toyota can't make it work. If they did come through, I bet the brakes will be excellent, and will easily outclass the drums.

    Too few to list.
I have no problems with the drums though disc makes it easier to replace pads.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
That kit has vented rotors, FYI. Most "premium rear disk brakes" are not vented.

Would be a mighty shame if manufacturers offered disk brake as an option but used non vented rotors that actually don't stop as well as drums, all to increase the price...

Disk brakes are not always better than drums. How about instead of nit picking an option, critique the overall performance. When the 60-0 specs come out, compare with Chevy and then bitch.

Yup, Toyota knows they f ed up. They would not have sent trolls under seatbelt bracket Mike supervision to defend lame drums on 2016 truck.
What is this, North Korea Motors using drums since Model T

Wow so Seatbelt bracket Mike took his time to explain two people why Toyota went with drum brakes ?
And he not only did this during presentation on camera but during interview too?
Those two people must be pretty important if you ask me.
Corporation addressing concerns raised by 2 (two) people, That other guy had to be President of United states himself..

People here get very annoying about the whole drum/disc thing. Let it go, it's Drums, no turning back. If it works for you great if not get something else . Period!

Fair enough, I hear ya. Track day with a fast car would be time much better spent than trying to be entertained by trolls who really knew jack-shit but pretend to be the star-engineers of a disc brake supplier

Funny you say that, because this really shows who has no life at all. A whole lot of yapping and bitching, instead of doing the sensible thing of voting with the wallet instead of mere words over the internet. You can tell some of these trolls really have no friends in real life, and interacting with the sensible TWers here is really their equivalent of having any friends at all.

And also, even though my FJ has rear disc brakes, if you open it up, the e-brake mechanisms within the brake rotor hubs are, you guessed it, drums. Add to the fact that over 80-90% of braking is done with the front brakes, having rear discs is overkill if not for aesthetics reasons.

Gentleman Gentleman, no need to flame on the TacomaWorld forums. Instead, may I suggest a trip to the Thunderdome? Two men enter, one man leaves.

Dude, I'm not sure how old you are but I'm guessing from your question your mama just stopped changing your diaper.

When the time is right to buy a 3rd gen Tacoma next year, I'm definitely sticking with manual. Crawl-control is nice, but I need to shift my own gears even though it's considered a "chore" to most people.

I'm a noob here so I'm thinking you meant the SUA-fiasco gas pedal recall a few years ago? Makes you wish someone would cut his brake lines so the rest of the world no longer has to hear all those pointless miserable drivel.

I forgot the /sarcasm tag. I knew that's Ms Turner, and she's quite a head-turner in her prime.

I got used to it in the FJ, and liked the fact that I can choose any gear I want, I can short-shift whenever I want, and go WOT on a higher gear when cruising at lower speeds but won't kick down a gear like automatics, letting the low-end torque work and bring up to speed.
