1 yes, on from April to october
2 depends on the rack. If you have the space you could always leave the tent attached to the rack when stored
    3 no
4 keep the windows rolled up

Yeah this is an issue with any bedside mounted rack that attached to the rail mounts and sits on the plastic cap. A steel or AL cap replacement is the best way to go however may not allow you to properly attach to your bed side rail mounts without modification to your rack. Me personally I prefer and have a bed rack that mounts to the bed bottom on the frame bolts just for that additional piece of mind.

I take the tent off when I'm not siding it. I have a Prinsu rack so I just take off the two crossbars that the tent mounts to. I work in LA so I have to fit in parking structure.

I wouldn't say it's hard to remove, just irritating and time consuming since my rack is so low profile. If you have a different rack, it's probably easier.

I never had a canopy and love the tent.

I have a tonneau cover that I keep my gear under in the bed. Works great!

I don't believe I know you well enough to use a "kitchen" or "sammich" reference. :D

So I will just agree with you. :pout:

    1) Nope i take it on and off.
    2) Not for me... i have mine attached to thule bars and have a pulley setup to lift it on and off. Takes maybe 5 minutes to do it solo.
    3) i have a canopy
    4) Either in the bed or some stuff i toss behind the seats in my access cab

I'm jealous of the pulley. Once I have a garage, I'll add one right away!

@DoorDing do strap the RTT to the brackets on the ceiling of garage, or does the Harbor Freight hoist lock it in place? Ive been look at multiple posts to put my lift together, but wasnt sure about locking the RTT in place once it is hoisted? Thanks for your help.

It looks like he has straps as a backup (the green ones) but he can comment for sure on it.

My rule of thumb is if it's a mechanical device that does whatever....it gets a backup. For me I have just a hand winch for raising and lowering. When it's in the up position...I add static straps in case the winch werre to fail....or be ripped out of the wall lol

I agree with Nick. I have 4 ropes total that connect to the Thule cross bars (which stay connected to the tent) then down to some boat cleats to secure them. Never had a problem with my hoist

That was my thinking as well and where i would put mine would be right over top of the main travel path in my garage. I like your thinking and just going to utilize straps as well. Better safe than sorry!

    Hello All,

Just joined the RTT community. Still too hot and muggy here in central Georgia to spend a night in it. Planning a trip to the Gulf Coast in Oct. Plenty of time between now and then for additions like LED lighting, cooling fans, and storage for other gear underneath. Also a hanging storage system in my garage so the trailer can be used w/o the tent.RTT1.jpg

I'm also I the market for a good fan for the RTT. I saw a post somewhere they used a Coleman fan attached to a ram mount that clamped to the tents frame. I liked that setup and he said the fan circulated well.
