I once heard someone say "education it the key, but school is not always the nessisary path to become educated." I'm rather fond of this quote.

Tacomas aren't cheap. They hold their value.
Probably won't be able to get one without a "hi scool" degree.

No, that's the point, you obviously aren't dumb. Just don't get to a point in life where you need any grammar or spelling skills.

    hi school.

When a person applies for a job, most employers will look at educational background. Regardless of the real reason for a person dropping out of high school, the first thing MOST potential employers will think is, the person is either a discipline problem, not real bright, or just lazy. Again, that may be a million miles from the truth, but perception being greater than reality in many cases.....

Where I work, we do our own "HR" as department heads. I'm allowed to hire and fire based on my departmental needs. I try not to look at potential employees from the perspective of "who's the worst", but from "who's the BEST" I have to pick from. A well educated person immediately goes to the head of the list. I need people who can work within a system......And NOT someone who'll cut and run when things aren't always to their liking. I don't discriminate against people without a diploma, but I DO tend to look upon those who have one with more favor. I'm after the best employee I can get. When you have very limited information to make a judgment, you go with what shows up on the application.....Diplomas open doors.....Lack of a completed basic education slams doors in your face.

Yes, I know people who have succeeded without a high school diploma. (My father comes to mind) But I know far more who have struggled just to get by because they never got past the first interview when the good jobs came calling.

That in many ways is very true. A lot of high school dropouts don't have much in their future. Rather it is because they are lazy, weak minded, addicted to drugs, or just not motivated. But I think there are two types of people in this world. People that are motivated, and people that are not motivated. A motivated person will make things happen for him or herself, with or without an education. A person tthat's not motivated will be on the bottom of the barrel every time. Trying to find ways to not work and get paid for it. Milking the clock as some would say. Those are also the people that just need a little push in life. To show what can happen if you try hard.
