So long story short (which you can see in my other thread) my truck got totaled. I received a call from a toyota dealer that said they had a 2009 4x4 trade in within my range. I havent seen the truck because its going through their process and inspection. So i have been doing some research and i know that Carcomplaints.com is a lot of people just being whiny.. (including a complaint they couldnt see the cup holders at night). But the 2009 had the most complaints. I had a 2007 so i wouldnt say there is much difference, and the main complaint was stereo going out, but i have one from the 2007 that i am putting in the new truck regardless. (pioneer DVD) Anything else i should be worried about, or why it had more complaints than any other? thanks for the help :)

Nah man its not like your buying a ford! Its still a taco so any problems you do have they most likely will be just missing the cup holder at night

I'm sure if you would do a proper search, there'll be a mod for putting a light bar in the cup holder.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I haven't had any problems with my 09, except the radio thing happened once or twice. Hasn't happened in 2 years though.

Your biggest issue will be just checking the truck out really well for the common tell tell signs... Idk what the tell tell signs of a bad truck are but... Look for them..

Rust being the only one that comes to mind...

We had a boy and a girl. They're 35 and 33 now. The son was just like me. In a word.....Karma. He drove me stark raving nuts with the dirt bikes. The daughter was golden until she turned 18, then she started making up for lost time. Now they're just fine, have families of their own and Karma has taken a shift of direction!

I had a 2009 TRD Sport v6 4x4 DCSB. Loved it with zero problems. I hope my new 2015 is just as good. The first 3000 miles have been.

Not to hijack the thread, (even though this is the second time I took it off topic...) but Kysport, what part of Louisville do you live in? I'm south of Louisville, down Bardstown Road, into Bullitt County.

Do it! 2009 was the best year. But I may be a little biased, as that's the year my daughter was born. I've had no problems at all. No issues with the stereo here *knocks on wood*. It's the stock JBL w/ the sub. It sounds great.

2009 and newer are nice because of all the little extras they had (side airbags standard, rearview mirror, aux input, etc.). I had my 2009 Sport 4x4 for 140,000 miles with no mechanical issues other than a wheel bearing. I did have radio issues, even having it replaced once. When I finally sold it, the 2nd radio had been acting up for over a year, but I didn't want to pay to replace it. It would shut off or change sources randomly, volume knob wouldn't work, and screen would go out.

Other than that, it just had the normal Tacoma "quirks". But it was a fantastic truck.
