Hey everyone, coming back with an update on the problem that I mentioned with regard to the clutch pedal sticking to the floor. I was in traffic and suddenly was unable to shift, and after pulling it apart and taking it back to have the part exchanged (LuK master cylinder) it was evident that the part where the push rod connects to the cylinder thing that mounts to the pedal bent severely. I've attempted to diagram it out here, the grey part in the second image shows where the little plastic insert that sits in there was sticking out of the part. This particular incident has happened before with previous master cylinder brackets, both LuK and Duralast.

The first image indicates the normal status, when we put the new master cylinder on. The second denotes when that part gets bent.

Please help! I'd really like to get the Taco back on the road.

If you're talking about the plastic bushing that is the cause of most clutch pedal squeaks, I have seen many people remove the bushing completely and attach a brake pedal style spring to the pedal and a metal bracket near the pedal. The clutch pedal movement feels the same but the big spring and the plastic bushing are removed. I myself have never tried it, but many have and it works.

Have you checked that your Clutch pedal bracket is not loose or broke ??

Something is for sure wrong that these keep bending like this

Do you have the rod adjusted correct ?? Almost like the Rod is adjusted to long.

You do adjust the rods when installing the new ones??

Maybe your getting the wrong part boxed correct.

Is the Master cylinder coming loose and moving ??

This did not get your attention after the first time??

Why was the first one replaced that started this mess??

I have had Good Luck with LUK products some of the quality control on Auto Zone products is doubtful

I had the same problem with an autozone master cylinder. I bought a replacement from rock auto that had more substance to it.

You can find many threads on the clutch bushing problem on this forum.

I went through that a few years ago. Replaced the little plastic bushings, but a couple years later the problem returned. So I took them out and used a spring to hold the pedal up. Never was satisfied with that so I removed the spring. The pedal still stays up, I have no squeaks, and the clutch works fine 30,000 miles later.

Do the worn bushings cause the shaft on the Master Cylinder to bend???

No. I think there is some confusion about what you are talking about. I think you are talking about the plastic bushing inside the push rod that comes with a new master cylinder.

I think that some on this thread think you are talking about the bushings on the torsional clutch pedal return spring.

I know what the OP was talking about I was asking if those bushings where that big stupid spring was !!!!

Was the reason the Master Cylinder Push Rod kept bending for the OP

Trying to figure out just why??

That spring got removed the same time the clutch safety switch was removed. Which was the day I bought the truck

Ah, I see now. My mistake. In my case, the bushing bent because it was an under-engineered piece of shit.
