Fuck yeah 10mm FTW! Love my Glock 20C with 1300fps loads. As powerful as a .357 but with 15 rounds in the clip.

Well since you bring it up...

Pretty close. Keep the G19 on my side or next to my bed for people. Thank the lord I have never had to use it. Dont feel like I will but its like having a spare tire. Just in case. Then I am bringing my over under shot gun that i use for dove along with my new auto loading shotgun that is for duck, predator hunting on public land, and want to pattern a few different loads. Might want to use it for dove since ammo this year is 15 bucks cheaper per case. Bringing my lcr revolver for when we start exploring away from camp. Lots of snakes this time of year and snake shot is in the first round. It is small, light weight and fits in my front pocket. Of course need to make sure the deer rifle is still shooting straight and my skills have not deminished over the busy summer. My single shot 20ga/22 over and under for the rodent/racoon that have been eating all my corn in the feeders. And my m-4 just cause dumping 30 round mags into sneaky pepsi cans is just plain fun. None which will be waved around.

Gun saftey can only be taught with guns. That is a whole other topic.

Are these needed? Hell no! But they sure are fun. 3 day weekend just my son, my pup, a lake fed by a river 10,000 acres and a shit load of guns and ammo. Fuck yea Murica :) If you were closer I would take you and show you a damn good time.

There is a firearms section that has tons of freedom and Murica on tap, is all. I don't think OP is taking notes on ballistic data or your camping trip arsenals so much as trying to know what appropriate tools he should carry for roadside repairs and breakdowns.

It isn't my thread though, just tired of the continuous gunnie drum beating. ;)

your right , you boys keep
Hey man, no harm no foul. Just bull shitting about bull shit. You dont want to talk guns hit the back button, dont make a comment. When you do you create a conversation. Its like my wife asking me if her ass looks fat in these jeans and then getting upset cause I responded. Personally I can talk, guns, camping, tools knives, what ever all day long. I know more about somethings than others. Firearms happen to be one of my loves. So that is when I enter the conversation. Have a good weekend man. And lighten up. Have some fun. I have 2 hours till I leave and am excited about my trip. You dont like it, thats cool. Dont ask me about it, dont assume things about it, dont quote me, and we wont have to talk about it. However I do appreciate your concern for my son's saftey and the number of fire arms I am taking on my trip. The back button is a great tool for people that do not want to discuss what others are discussing. Its like walking up to a group of co workers and they are talking about how great it is to be gay. You just turn around and walk away. Well I do anyhow.

No one talked about guns until they were mentioned, in specific calibers, for a car kit. Then it became a gunny circle jerk.

For the record I didn't say anything about your sons safety or number of firearms you're taking on a trip.

You confused me with someone else, I think.

He is right. I'm the one who mentioned proper firearm safety and the number of firearms. I also stopped commenting because there isn't any use discussing it. I'm not going to make you rethink anything and you aren't making me rethink anything so who cares right :).

Guns are tools and the OP asked about tools. In some areas they are very useful tools, in others it would be like bringing your welding gear to install new speakers in your doors. Unfortunately these particular types of tools get some people all flustered at the very mention of them.

If you don't need/want one, don't buy one. If you do, just be smart and safe about it. If everyone were to adhere to that stupidly easy thought, nobody would have their panties in a bunch....

Me personally? If I have a job to do, I want to have the right tools with me.

Bingo! Now that's a comment for the win!

Just having purchased my truck a few months ago I'm interested in the same things as the OP. So far I've only got a basic med kit, fire starting materials, a little bit of non-perishable food and toilet paper in a watertight bag...

More to do with nobody can simply mention it without the topic taking over the actual topic. As shown here in this thread and a hundred others.

It is a tool, like a socket set. But socket sets don't dominate threads and turn everything into socket set talk at the slightest of mentions.

I'll restart this. An air compressor and patch kit. If you can stop before a draining tire shreds itself you can patch the tire and be on your way without dropping the spare. If you lose two tires then you aren't screwed necessarily.

In Canada I'd say cold weather gear, some sort of signalling device, a SPOT gps (if you can justify the cost elsewhere too), candles, and a couple of packs of ichiban noddles are good ideas to keep warm, fed, and alert a rescue party where you are.

I'd leave the hijack at home unless you are going to drag around all the recovery gear necessary to make it work as a winch and you have sliders or other good hard points to use it as a lift. Otherwise the damn thing just takes up space and is deadly if it leaves the box for any reason in a crash.
