I'd be willing to bet the new 2016 TRD Sport DCLB will be worth nearly $50K in Canada taxes in.

    Maintenance

    Dictionary:

    noun
    1.the act of maintaining :
the maintenance of proper oral hygiene.
2.the state of being maintained :
the maintenance of friendly relations with England.
3.care or upkeep, as of machinery or property:
With proper maintenance the car will last for many years.
4.means of upkeep, support, or subsistence; livelihood:
    to provide a comfortable maintenance.
    5.alimony or child support.
6.Law. an officious meddling in a suit in which the meddler has no interest, by assisting either party with means to prosecute or defend it.

Oil changes are maintenance. The word you were looking for is repairs. Repairs are only required when something breaks or is not functioning properly.

Settle down, it was just a joke.

My F150 XLT XTR with appearance package was 41K CAD taxes in.... so now you know why people are walking from Toyota. Not knocking Toyota, but the price difference is getting to far the wrong way.

Mostly true, but as stated above Ford has been on the upswing in terms of quality and value, while toyota has been slipping. The 90's were, in my opinion a peak for value and quality of toyota vehicles. They were less complicated, but took advantage of Toyota's excellent engineering and manufacturing quality. These days they have plants all over the place, and have taken manufacturing efficiency and expanded it into squeezing every dollar out of each vehicle.

Don't get me wrong, I still like Toyotas and will likely still buy them in the future (just bought a 2015 Tacoma a month ago), but the delta between them and the domestics isn't what it was 20 years ago. I really hope that Toyota realizes this and gets their act together, because I want them to succeed as a brand, but if things keep going the way they are Toyota won't be at the top of my list for my next vehicle.

I do own a Ford... And a Toyota... They are both good vehicles.

My old 2009 Ford F150 is still at work with over 300K on it, with good maintenance of course. I did have to replace the shocks, but considering it spent most of the fall and winter with a thousand pounds in the box it only makes sense.

My 2015 F150 has been flawless in it's first 20K. My 2013 Tacoma has done fairly well but I did have to have the front window molding changed several times before it stopped whistling.

If you want to keep your truck for decade keep your 1gen. If you bought 2007-2008 you would got decade too. But those were produced with LC engines and transmissions. After that getting decade became tricky. I would say if current truck serves you well keep it.

The F150 has always been the only other truck I considered and still do more than ever. It's hard to pay almost 40k for a Tacoma when you can get a full size F150 and don't listen to haters out there. Ford is every bit as reliable as Toyota in the truck category and in a lot of ways better. When I think on what I have had to fix or work on and my Tacoma only has 87k miles on it. I know people who are and have gotten 200k to 300k miles on them and only changed oil and brakes.

I think that's the thing. Ford's bread and butter is the F series. While they have put out some pretty crappy designs, they are not going to screw up what keeps them in business.

Exactly, and I have to say that it is one sexy looking truck. Put a 6" lift and some bigger tires and wheels and you have a beast that gets great gas mileage.

The f150 is the only truck that repeatedly makes me consider trading in, the 2016 Tacoma doesn't. However, for the moment I'm happy in my 13 Tacoma and when I really consider my needs the benefits of an f150 are creature comforts and not needs or requirements. The extra interior room would be awesome but the tradeoff is ease of parking. I have no concerns of the reliability of either truck.
