This weekend I pulled my carpet, lined the floor with 20 sq/ft of Dynamat, and installed vinyl flooring. There are no holes for the mat anchors for the Weathertech mats but so far they seem to be staying put pretty well. I still have the anchors so if I need to cut a hole and throw a grommet in there I have the option.

And after driving around yesterday the Dynamat does make a significant difference in the level of road noise in the cab. Pretty sure I'll do the rest of the truck when I remove the headliner for switches install.

Pretty happy with the flooring; now I can just wipe it clean instead of having to vacuum.

 

Do not clean your interior carpet by spraying it down with water, it'll cause mold. Professional detailers use carpet extractors and steam cleaners, and they dry the carpet and remove all water almost instantly after.

 

As long as you dry it in a timely manner you should be good most of the time if that's the way you wanna go!

 

This is exactly what I want. How much and where did you get it? How long to install about?

 

I got it from the dealer because I had a credit. Aprox $450 for the vinyl and $110 for the deadener. Took me a Sunday with beer.

 

How much of a difference did the deadener make in terms of cabin noise? This may be in my future.

 

Ugggghhhh! The pictures caused me to have flashbacks..... Years ago, I went a little over the top on a Jeep I owned. Did a full leather interior, Recarro bucket seats, a wild Alpine Stereo system, carpet on the floor, and just simply too much invested to be out muddin' it, much less running into deep standing muddy water.

But a little thing like common sense never stood in my way when it came time to have a good time! (especially when beer was involved....This was a "Little Kings moment")

Jumped in a mud hole on a very popular trail near home....The hole had a name....LAKE ERIE. The name was well earned.

The Jeep also had a locker in the rear, true-trac in the front, a hot small block Chevy that had been waterproofed to the max, 38" Gateway "Gumbo Mudders", and my heavy right foot.

I made it through the hole, but about the halfway point, I saw water coming out the cassette slot of my stereo. Also muddy water spraying out the defroster ducts for a couple seconds. The water level reached about mid chest level on me.

The Little Kings said keep going.

I later learned to quit listening to liquor.

It made a significant difference. People that ride in my truck that know how noisy MTRs are always comment on how they can't hear them. It just makes the truck sound and feel more solid in the cab.

 

I had water come across the hood and hit my windshield in my old jeep TJ... already had the top and doors off so i just lifted the carpet pulled the drain plug and left it out in the sun

 

When I was much younger and selling cars at a dealership. I would take home new Isuzu Troopers all the time. One time my friend and I started going into a trail and I did just like you Josh and dove into this hole pretty quickly and the water was going over the hood right to the windshield - just for a second. Anyways water started coming down from some kind of vent and pouring down on my feet. Not so much water inside that I needed to worry about it. Just made the carpets damp. I vacuumed and left the windows down to dry plus the water was clear. The rest of the truck took forever to clean though... LOL. We had found a mud pit that I was trying to go around without much success. Cleaned everything except under the hood, sure enough someone wanted to look at that truck that day, first thing the sales rep did was pop the hood and I could see the mud under the hood from 100 feet away. Opps!

please tell me we can still get this, even if they stopped making them in 2012, what has really changed since then?

I know this was from a while ago but the vinyl came from the dealer? Like they make a fitted vinyl for our trucks?

The dealership will tell you that this part isn't vinyl flooring. It is. I've given this number out a lot and people always say the same thing, "the dealer said this is carpet" but somehow they always end up with it on their floor.

Something must be jacked in the dealer parts lookup.

 

I'm glad I stumbled on this thread and read all the way through because this...

...is something I did not know and I would have thought the opposite. I would've been tempted to shut it off for fear of the truck sinking further and water getting into the air intake. I wasn't aware that air/water could be sucked in through the exhaust, that's good to know.

 

I've only read it, but supposedly it's true.
