I have a 2006 Tacoma. I have installed new tires and wheels from a 2015 Tacoma. Will I have to have the new sensors reprogramed? Can a Tire Shop do this? Thanks

Yep. Any good tire shop can do this.

Did you have TPMS in the old wheels?

Yes you can get the truck reprogrammed for the different set of sensors your using now. I do this twice every year when I switch from summer to winter wheels/tires. They walk around and read all your tire sensors then plug into the OBD port and download the new data.

I have the stock sport rims with michelin (for summer driving) and stock off road wheels with duratrac (for the winter). Is this really unusual?

Looking at where you live, you really don't get the kind of snow IL gets. You don't get 12" and it freezes for two weeks solid.

You live in a nice place for sure. I wanna retire up there but farther south.

Because I'm a wise old man who has lived in many varied places across the USA and world. And it's the internet. Thanks Al Gore!

Michelin M/S get more mpg vs Goodyear Duratrac but when it snows the M/S is a lot of wheel spin and ABS noise vs Duratrac hooks up and more importantly they out brake the M/S in winter conditions.

How much does your tire shop charge for performing the reprogramming?

Shops near me are so expensive, that I am considering purchasing my own equipment for reprogramming.

Or you could buy a TPMS reader (Autel TS401) and a TPMS reprogrammer (ATEQ QuickSet) for about $250 total, and you'd be set.

No charge because I purchased both sets there.

The difference is mostly due to less wheels spin in the winter I think.

A common misconception. I have been stuck worse in wash sand than I ever got stuck in snow back East.
